| Hehe, probably not... but she will learn to not eat her balanced doggie food and will wait for days till you break down and feed her the chicken, which is not a balanced diet. This is why 'no people food' is generally recommended.

| Good Lord! I was afraid to read this with that title! LOL Take if from a woman that has porky yorkies - - - Save the chicken for when they are sick and NEED to eat something. I regret EVER giving my pack people food. Even though we don't feed them anything from the table anymore and haven't for a long time, they still beg. |

| That is exactly why I don't give my dogs people food, Yoshi was such a picky eater and we were so tempted to give him people food but held out. Yoshi is allergic to chicken..

| Yes, and if you give in, you will have to eat the rest of your dinners forever with those sad, innocent eyes staring up at you, just waiting for a weak moment so they can make their move and get a piece of what you're eating. Very hard to do but 'Just Say 'NO'... Lol!

| I feed my adult dogs twice a day. They get a home cooked meal and kibble and treats too. None of them are over weight. The trick is to feed proper portion size of each item. My dogs eat in their crate. That helps me know who eats what and how much. (The dogs are different ages etc.. so they don't all eat the same food) For Breakfast they eat, 1/4 cup kibble, 1/8 cup cooked meat, 1/8 cup of raw, cooked, or steamed Veggies. Training Treats are cut into tiny one bite size (the size of a pea) and are home made jerky, sweet potato, raw apple, raw carrot, raw green beans and other tiny tasty things. Evening meal is 1/4 cup kibble sprinkled with either teaspoon of Parmesan cheese, a teaspoon of cooked brown rice, scrambled egg, a teaspoon plain yogurt, teaspoon cooked rolled oats, teaspoon of fat free cottage cheese etc.

| My poor fat baby :( Yuri is part min pin part chihuahua, I got him from my husbands cousin when she bough 2 puppies one Christmas on impulse, and figured out a couple weeks later she couldn't handle it. We had a horrible time feeding him from the time he was a puppy, he's just a horribly picky eater. Eventually he got to where he would eat ok but not easily. He was super thin when we got him, but he ended up looking totally buff. I guess more of a min pin build with floppy ears. We moved to Oklahoma. I was staying with my sister, Kassie's kids while she was at work and Yuri and I spent a LOT of time with my sister and her family. Kassie started sneaking him bites. I'd grumble at her but she just kept doing it. I thought at the time that it was just a bite here and there and didn't really think it was her fault when he started gaining weight, because he had been fixed shortly before we moved, and I know they can pack a bit on when they get fixed, but he just kept gaining... Then I caught Yuri with his own plate of cake and ice cream at my nieces bday. I flipped out on her. I couldn't believe she gave him that. I told her she had to stop, that I didn't want her giving him a single bite of ANYTHING. She seemed to think it was cute and funny he was getting fat, and said "but it makes him happy!" I told her when he ended up diabetic I was bringing him to her every day for his shots. What really gets me is she has weight problems. She has since she was 16. She KNOWS what a difference weight can make in the way you feel. My sis still doesn't get it but shes stopped, Now she tells him to ask me then coos at him about how I said no and I'm sooo mean when he runs over to me and begs and I say no. He's starting to get a little better, but his energy levels are still a lot lower than before and he's still tubby I miss my energetic playfull boy. I'm sure he still gets people food from time to time being in a house full of kids, but not nearly so much. Hopefully He'll get back to his old self eventually and out of his lazy old grouchy mood. |

| I roast chicken for Teegy. When I was weaning him onto raw, my vet suggested it. I roasted for an hour then covered in water and cooked for another half hour. When it cooled it was chicken in a chicken flavoured gelee. I shredded it all off the bone and mushed it together with the gelee and froze it in snack bags. I still give it to Teegy, cooked or raw (raw he eats the bones too). You cannot say the word chicken in my home because he goes mental and runs to the fridge, it's called cluckers now |

| We have always given Georgie boiled chicken. It's the only people food he gets besides apple pieces (no skin) because he loves them soooo much! Georgie is a 4lb lean mean machine so I wouldn't say it caused him to gain unnecessary weight

I didn't mean that feeding them chicken would lead to a weight gain. My dh and I fed our furbutts bites from our plates (people food) and they managed to sucker us in every night at dinner. Now three out of five are overweight and on diets. The cat isn't too skinny either. I regret EVER letting them have people food. If I had it to do over again I would not do it at all. I would reserve giving them boiled chicken for when they are sick and need to be tempted in order to keep them safe. | |

I think it would be best to do that too. I can honestly blame the chicken thing on DH who is a total pushover when it comes to all things Yorkie. |
