| Hello Hi there I am new to YorkieTalk. I am waiting on my baby girl Mia to come home. She is 6 1/2 weeks old now and we should be able to bring her home at the end of the month if all is well. We are very excited to enjoy the adventures of a yorkie!! So I guess I have a few questions before I bring her home. I have her crate, bed, toys, harness. Is there any recommendations for Shampoo in canada? I went to order Yorkie Splash and Shine but to ship to Canada is gonna cost me as much as the product. As well she goes for her first shots and vet check 2 days before she come home.. Should I take her again when I bring her home? Or will she be okay until her 2nd shot? Thanks |

| You need to make a vet appt now to take her to the vet right after you take her home. You need to make sure she is in good health and sometimes there is a requirement in your contract that you do it within 72 hrs.

| Welcome to YT ! Be sure to not put your baby on the ground outside of your home or own fenced in back yard , where other dogs can have relieved themselves until she is fully vaccinated. Do lots of reading here on YT about vaccinating your pup as you don't want her Over Vaccinated. Congratulations on your new family member. |

| Welcome to YT and congratulations on your new baby girl. Mia is a beautiful name. If you are bringing this baby home at 8 weeks old you need to have some Nutrical on hand as her blood sugar could drop and that can be very dangerous for such a young pup. I would recommend that she not be brought home at all until she is twelve weeks old. They learn so much in the time between eight and twelve weeks from their mother and siblings. A good breeder will not let a pup go home until they are twelve weeks old and smaller ones will stay with the breeder even longer. Is there a reason you are bringing her home so young? She will need to be watched constantly at such a young age. She should have a vet visit a day or two after you bring her home. She will need two more sets of puppy shots and probably another visit for a rabies shot, depending on her size. I like Bio Groom Fluffy Puppy shampoo, or Mink Sheen. Not sure how easy these would be to get in Canada. Maybe one of our Canadian members will chime in and help you out with whats available there. Do you have a good pin brush and comb? I like the Maddan Pin Brush and a Chris Christianson butter comb. They are expensive but well worth it. Start the day you bring her home with short sessions of brushing and combing so she gets used to it. We are happy to have you here asking questions, there is so much to learn. This is a great place to learn and make friends. |

| So the reason Iam bringing her home at 8 weeks is cause this is when she sells all her puppies. Mia has become a family member already as we have followed her from birth and Iam very scared that if I dont take her at 8 weeks that the lady will sell her to someone who will. I will make sure I get some Nutrical. Do I get this at the vet or a petstore? Also I have not gotten a brush yet but I will be making sure I do before I bring her home. As for shots I have been told that they do 8,12 and 16 weeks? I am sure the vet will let me know for sure when she has her check up. |

Iam a homemaker! So staying home is not an issue. There will be no worry about her not getting what she needs in my care. I can understand the concern now for me bringing her home at 8 weeks. The breeder does however go on holidays 2 days after she is 8 weeks so is better off with me then traveling? | |
