Yorkie Talker | Dry skin? Hello. Is there anybody that have a Biewer or a Yorkie with dry skin? We hope that somebody can tell us what to do. We have changed the food and we have try all types of shampoo. Is there some oil or something we can add into the skins that helps hear? Thanks Svein. Yorkshire Terrier i Norge |

| Riley sometimes has dry skin from his environmental allergies. His vet recommended to give him fish oil pills. I use Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Pet. I just cut the tip of the pill with scissors and squeeze it onto his kibble. |

| I use Coconut Oil. I add it to their food and I put it on their coats and any minor skin issues I see. It soaks into their coats in about a day. And I use a lot of conditioner after the baths.

| I didn't know it could be put on their coat! I tried to put on their food, then tried the coconut chips and they went on strike. I'll have to get some more and try it directly on them. Doesn't make them "greasy"?

| Mine look greasy for a day, but by the next day or so it has completely soaked in and one could never tell. I put a small amount in my hands and rub it into my hands first then onto their coat.

| My year old Yorkie had super dry skin and my vet recommended Earthborn Holistic small breed food. It has tons of Omegas in it. His coat is beautiful.. No flakes or itching. Hardy's coat is shiny and beautiful!!! All of my dog's eat it, and they love it!!! |

| I also used Nutiva Coconut Oil, before I started squeezing the pills on his food. I got it at the GNC store. I would put a little in his food, or I would put a little on a cotton ball and just rub it on his belly. I will probably get some more so I can start doing the cotton ball/belly, again. |

| I am so glad this thread is here! LOL! Bella's groomer had said that her skin was dry. It has been driving me nuts trying to figure out how to fix it!

Yorkie Talker | Skin Problems! Hi! We went to the doctor with our Biewer, she did conclude alergi. So it is very important to pay close attention to what you give to the dog. Hill has a product that is very good for dogs that have alergi. Otherwise, it is to try out foods and snacks. All dogs have different and reacts differently. It is wise to give one thing at a time. So you then know for sure what they can eat and what they can not eat. When switching food to the dog, then you should give this for 2 months before you know for sure if they can tolerate it or not. So do not stop after a day or 2. Have a nice day! Svein Yorkshire Terrier in Norway |
