| Bruno a.k.a. the Runaway Yorkie! Hi to all! This is me presenting my furbaby Bruno! It's weird how much I love this dog, it's like I have a child! He's a sweetie, but oh so stubborn and funny! He always cuddles on my lap and at night he sleeps next to me. In general he's pampered and I think that's why he has the attitude of a winner! He's almost 2 now, trying to adjust to our new home in the countryside, because up until 6 months ago we lived in the city. He also has the company of our other dog, Clara, who's a Griffon. They get along just fine! I think he's in love with her te-he! Everything was going well, until last Monday. Clara is the kind of dog who just can't stay within the fenced garden, so while everyone was taking a midday nap, she somehow managed to open the gate, so as expected both her and Bruno left the house. I forgot to mention that Clara is 14 years old!!! Yes, and that means that, since she's lived here longer she knows the way back home. But Bruno doesn't! What happened was this (according to neighbors): Bruno and Clara were strolling along the street and a car came onto Bruno and miraculously drove over him without even scratching him... A a result, he panicked and started running like a maniac, which lead to him losing the way back home... Long story short, he was missing for 3 days... It was the worst 3 days of my life. I really can't remember having cried that much for any reason... Thank God we made flyers with his picture and gave them to shops and gas stations around the area! He made an appearance to a shop, they recognized him and brought him back!!! Oh that feeling! I was so happy that he was safe! I was only sad to see that his hair was all tangled really bad, so I had to make an appointment and have them cut off... Poor baby is feeling cold now and shivers all the time... But mummy's here and I got him a vest and he looks sooo cute! And feels warmer for sure! Ahh... Thanks for listening to me! I want to say that all of your puppies and doggies are so adorable, I can't stop staring at them! Love them all! |

| oh my what a story, I can just imagine out excited you are to have him back home, he looks adorable even with his messy hair. I guess you are now looking for lock for the gate, one with a key that you hide from Clara

| I am so sorry that Bruno had that kind of adventure, but am happy to hear he is back home. Just a suggestion, there should be no way at all that a dog should be able to get outside when the owner is other wise busy (nap). If you are going to that and you have a doggie door make sure is it locked and the gate outside as well so this doesn't happen again. Do this please for the well being of your fur kid's.

| Oh, my goodness, your Bruno had a very, very close call! I always watch Tibbe like a hawk when he is outside due to any number of awful things, including dog-theft, that can happen to a small dog left outside to his own devices. That is I always watch Tibbe except on one recent occasion and it could have been disastrous. My Tibbe was out in the backyard and I thought I would let him stay and enjoy the lovely weather while I rushed indoors to the bathroom, which I did, literally taking no more than 120 seconds since I was rushing so. But when I returned to the backyard Tibbe was gone! After about 2 - 3 minutes of total panic, I found him out front along the side of the house and I realized he got out of the back yard via a place that was so small I would have bet anyone money that he could not EVER have gotten through that tiny space. So these little guys can't be left out unobserved at all - not even 120 seconds - since they are consummate escape artists! There are any number of other scary to dangerous to deadly things that can happen to them so I just would never leave a little dog outside unobserved for even 15 seconds after what I went through with Tibbe recently. Another time, just a few weeks before I got Tibbe, my neighbor's large Pitbull jumped into my yard! I looked outside as she was coming over the top of the fence and had a small little aggressive terrier had been there, a horrible outcome could be expected. Another neighbor's 15 lbs. cat used to stalk little 5 lb. Tibbe when I first got him and before Tibbe was secure enough to start to "police" his own premises. That big cat jumped over the fence more than once with me standing right outside in the yard waving my cane and shouting "No" and I immediately started for it, screeching at the top of my voice and ran off every time. Later, Tibbe got more bossy and decided no cat was going to stalk him and he flexed-up on the cat with vicious growls and mean, mean barking and he stalks it back through the fence, his little neck arched in fine terrier fashion and now that cat runs from Tibbe whenever he growls/barks or comes near the fence. But before Tibbe "grew up", that cat could have seriously hurt Tibbe if I hadn't been outside and watching it. That being said, I am so thrilled for you and Bruno that that car didn't mortally wound him I can't even put it into words! What a blessed little boy he is to have come so very near to an awful death or worse - a mortal wound and had to lie horribly wounded in the road for who knows how long. The thought of what he escaped just gives me the shivers. And then to be able to find him after those 3 days is another absolute miracle. You are so blessed to have Bruno back and he looks like a little doll in his new hair cut! Enjoy your baby now that he's home and thanks for the post - it is yet one more reminder of how close we have to monitor these little guys to keep them safe. We can't let down our guards for even a few moments.

| That is absolutely horrible. I'm so thankful that Bruno is safe and sound. These little guys will one day give me a major heart attack. He actually was run over by a car. I would definitely have hard time recovering from that one. I thought it was bad when my horse got loose and ran into a neighboring football field, grabbed the ball and ran back home.

| Never leave your fur baby unattended outside. So many things can happen. My biggest concern is hawks. I have heard to many stories of them being taken by hawks.

| i just want to say, sometimes it seems the replies on here are so harsh!! grantid, i havent made many posts, ive been a member since '07 and im NOT backlashing at ANYONE ive just read a lot on here...but sometimes its like..jeeeepers.. lol. not everyone owns a dog in the same way. i realize that every situation is different, and every yorkie is different. but i let pheobe out every day.. not supervised( meaning being outside with her and watching her like a hawk).. she generally stays very close and barks within minutes when shes done pottying. NOW, grantid she always goes out in a pair with cameron( my english setter.. who is leashed because his nose gets the better of him) and shes not a teenie tiny yorkie. she does her business and then comes in. although, shes very accustomed to being outside through our many adventures... I just feel that theres always everyones own circumstances and judgement shouldnt be given in the sense of what one person thinks should be done. And i dont think that one way means more "love or better ownership" I would do ANYTHING to protect my Pheobe and i love her unconditionally like she was my own child... but if i were to go out there everytime with her she would just want to play/ think it was time for a walk or get the mail.. or just stare at me like "leave me alone while i do my business" I know that every "seasoned" YT member only wants whats best for their babies, and i agree .. i wouldnt ever leave her outside while napping or anything.. like i said, not saying anything derrogative toward anyone, but i just disagree with instant replies leaning toward " your a horrible person"

| ** i just wanted to add that i almost wanted to DELETE my reply just because i dont want any judgement passed along to myself, but id rather be honest of my own thoughts and hope that it wouldnt reflect anything negative towards me or having anyone think i dont care for my girl the way some of you do... .... k. thats it.. eeeeek.***

| Sometimes no matter how careful we are with these little ones they can escape. Laddy was missing after the 4th of July when he was 8 months old the entire night ( which I sat through and prayed and cried the entire time) There were 16 of us with him outside, he had sat through all the fireworks just fine until the final one and it scared him. Of course it was pitch black outside and poof he was gone. We live in the country and searched the whole night. Thanks to all the prayers of good people on YT and elsewhere he showed up on our doorstep the next morning after we found out that he had been at the neighbors a mile away 2 hours earlier. So we just never know when these things can happen to any one of us. Thank God he made it back to you safely.

| I love happy endings. I have three runaway dogs. Good thing they all know there way around and didn't wonder off. They think they run the neighborhood.
