| how much chicken jerky is too much? treat or food? I cooked some chicken for 3 hours and it is pretty much jerky-like. Not sure it is chewy enough or if a dehydrator would make it chewier. She LOVES it. Since it is all chicken I gave her a couple pieces yesterday. More than I would have given her if it was the chicken chips she used to love. Hubby thought she was gassy. I did hear her toot once and I don't usually hear it (but I smell it). She seems fine, her stool was fine. My question is whether chicken jerky could be considered food or is it a treat? I mean it is all meat, so is it ok if she eats less of her dog food due to having had it? She normally only eats about 1/2 cup on Royal Canin YOrkie food with some boiled chicken (maybe a tablespoon shredded) mixed in. Sometimes we treat her to an ounce of boiled hamburger instead of chicken. She is 9.5 pounds, not overweight and gets daily walks. I think chicken jerky would be like us having carrots or cereal for a snack instead of cookies and cake. |

| I would definitely use it as just a treat... Not a meal. It does not have all the nutrients they need to be a food. I wouldn't feed her hamburger though...
