| Groomer cut my babies top knot!!! I have been using Petco grooming for about 1 year now. Ciarra is 2 years old and I have let her hair grow long and have never cut her top knot. It was so long and thick she had to keep it up even at night. I took her to my regular groomer for her touchup her feet, toenails, etc... When I picked her up the groomer had thinned out and cut her top knot. It is just one thin whispy string now. I was and still am just devastated. It is going to take me another year or so for this to grow back. I will have to trim it from time to time because it is in so many diffferent lengths. How could this have happened? when I picked her up the groomer was not there and I asked if she let someone else cut it or did she train someone on my dog. Has anyone else ever had something like this happen? I called the main office for Petco and am still waiting on a return call. I don't care about the groomng fee.... I don't know how they can fix this situation. Any suggestions? |

| I don't have any answers for you...but wanted to let you know, I'm so sorry this happened. I know the pain of trying and how long it took you to grow out the topknot. Sorry....

| WHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAT!!?!? awww i feel so bad for you. i get upset when they take too much off of Brew as well. i was so shocked last time i picked him up with how much they cut. You are trying to do a good thing for them, and it turns out like that is very upsetting. i hope you are able to get a hold of that groomer so you can express yourself to him. |

| Ciarra Thanks everyone for your compassion... I know you all understand. Also, I apologize for posting in the wrong forum. I am still so shook up. Jeanna, Ciarra and Bentley's mommy |

| my groomer did the same thing this last time, I always make a early morning appt. on a Saturday so I don't put Jasmine's hair up so she said she cut it to keep it out of her eyes because I bring her in w/o it being up. When I got Jasmine as a puppy she had her bangs cut so I have been letting them grow out. Guess I will have to start over now.

| That really stinks! When I worked in grooming shops I made sure that everyone put exactly what they wanted on the grooming check in slip. Even dogs that came in every week. All grooming shops should do this even if they see that dog on a weekly (we had many weekly dogs). This wasn't a policy of the shop, it was mine. I had groomers working with me that would take liberty in grooming dogs the way they wanted at times so I forced the issue. Hopefully you can get to the bottom of it. From now on though, no matter what, leave specific instructions. Some people just don't think. (Groomer not you) |

| Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I am so sorry this happened. I can't understand why she would do that, if she has been grooming her for awhile now. I know I would want some answers, and possibly find a new groomer.

| My Daughter in law was on vacation and took her Ellie in to a Petsmart in Florida as she has good luck with the Petsmart here. When she picked her up they had shaved all the hair off her ears. She was in tears in the middle of the store. It has taken over a year to grow back. Just when you think you can trust your pup to some ones care something like that happens.

| The same thing happened to me a few months back. I took Gracie to her regular groomer. Spoke to the woman before I left and told her not to touch her top knot and just to even out the length of her body hair and do her feet and around her face. I was very specific. I even left the bow and grooming bands I wanted put in. When I came to get her they had the bow in but I could tell the top knot had been butchered. I was so upset. The woman who usually grooms Gracie was not there but her daughter was. I suspect she let her daughter do Gracie instead of doing it herself. This was a private salon in the lady's own home. I will never take Gracie back there. I was furious. Just writing about it again makes my blood boil. On top of all that she didn't touch Gracie's body or face that I wanted evened out! What are these people thinking?! Do they usually just do as they please with their clients pets? |

| I am so sorry for what happened to your baby. Things like this is the main reason I started doing the grooming myself. I had been letting Jada and Bogie's hair on their nose grow out as it was shaved when we adopted them. It was just beginning to get to the point where it was out of their eyes and the groomer shaved it again!! I specifically told her DO NOT TOUCH THE HAIR ON THEIR NOSES. I never took them back to a groomer again after that.

Kind of sounds like some of them do! I sure hope it never happens to anyone again...they seem to have no idea what it's like for their customers trying to get the look and comfort for their babies that they want. Growing out faces and top knots is a challenge in itself 'cuz most of it is an 'awkward' stage for so long...but then to have it chopped off...and the dog has to go back through having hair in its eyes...too long and too short again.

| Oh, I am so sorry! I know how you feel! One time I took Cheyenne to our regular groomer, and told her that Cheyenne had a few little mats where she wears her harness, and I would comb them myself, not to touch that area. All I wanted was for her to have a trim-my groomer KNEW this! Cheyenne always got a trim, and sanitary, ALWAYS! I would also write out a note for each kid because I was always afraid that would happen and it did. When I picked her up, she had been SHAVED from nose to tail! I cried! Hubby was furious! I said then I would never take my kids to a groomer, and bought my own clippers, books, etc., and I do it myself. It's been years now. It will grow back, but it will take along time...all you can do is be cautious and always write out what you want done, or learn to groom yourself, like I did....

| I am SO sorry, I know how long it takes to grow back! Years ago, my maltese went to a groomer and they took out a chunk in the soft skin between her tummy and the front of her back leg...needless to say, no more groomers. Bought my own stuff and learned by trial & error. Now neither of my babies goes to groomers. |
