| Don't like him going outside. Is it bad if i don't let my yorkie outside? I feel bad because i don't take him out everyday. Every time he goes out he comes in with fleas and a tick the other day. yuk!! I do give him a pill for fleas tho. We also have 2 outside dogs that he loves to play with but they are bigger and he rolls around in the yard and lets them sniff him and that drives me crazy because i dont wont him to get dirty and stinky. Am I a bad yorkie mom?

| You should take your Yorkie outside, if you don't want him to go in the backyard maybe take him on a walk- I would put him on a flea/tick medicine monthly. Like K-9 Advantix or something like that. To not take him outside bc you don't want him to get "dirty" is just silly that's what baths are for.

| Hes a dog. He needs exercise and stimulation that he can get from being outside especially on walks. How would you like staying inside your house all day every day.

| I feel bad I don't take my boy out more, but it's too cold most days. The days it at least hits 50's I throw a sweater on and take him for a walk or run in a friend's backyard. Spring and summer need to hurry up. |

| I would not say your a bad yorkie mom! Maybe just a little over protective. My little man loves to go outside and stays dirty. I can give him a bath and right after im finished he insist on going outside then comes back in dirty...lol. I have the waterless shampoo for during the week in between baths. I don't use it every day but maybe twice a week and it keeps him smelling good.

If you get a dog just to keep inside 24/7, why not get a fish or a hamster instead? Heck, I even used to take my guinea pigs out in a pen for some fresh air. They are babies but they are first and foremost DOGS. They are gonna roll in smelly stuff once in a while. It's what baths are for. With that said, I don't know why he'd be getting fleas every day. You should keep Advantix or Frontline on all of your dogs monthly or treat your yard.

IF he keeps getting flea's you need to use FrontLine or Advantage on him. As for getting dirty, will heck they can get dirty in the house just as well. This is just my opinion only but I do not believe in outside dog's at all never have and never will. If you have flea's in your yard then I do feel sorry for your big dog's that are outside 24/7 and the area not being treated or them as well.

| like others have said outside is good for a dog, a walk would be great, I can understand you not wanting him to roll around in dirt and sand. Be very careful with the tick medicines especially the drops you put on the back of their necks, my last dog had very weird reactions to that and I hear that is not uncommon. Lola and I just got back from a long walk, it was 46 degrees and I was happy because that is warm for this time of year in MI. We don't walk or spend to much time outside when the ground is wet and covered with snow, not because she gets dirty but her belly and legs get to wet and nasty, even with a coat she can not stay warm. So those days we play a lot of fetch in side. Today her feet got muddy so when we got home, before I even took my coat off I stood her in about 2" of luke warm water in the sink in my laundry room and dried her off with an old towel I keep by the leash, took about 2 min. |

| Mine would absolutely die if she could not go outside. I think that all dogs need some outside time. Its sounds like you need to used a flea and tick preventive. We use Advantix and it is the only thing that keeps the ticks off here.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | If given a choice to go outside only one of mine likes it. The other 3 will go out but want to come back in. When I take them for a walk, Pixie can't wait to get home and looks miserable the whole time she is on the walk. I have tried to get them use to it but they just prefer to be inside. They do go out everyday in the fenced area I have but want to come right back in. But if you little guy likes to go outside I would try and get the flea situation under control for him and the outside dogs. Maybe if possible taking him to a park to play would be better.
