| Rascal's new trick... He has mastered the skill of going up the stairs...so he runs as fast as he can up and then barks until I go up to get him. We have been doing this since 6:15 am

| so I am assuming he will he come down them yet, that took Lola much longer than going up. My stairs are wood and slippery. It was a pain because she had the run of the house before she could come down the stairs on her own. She liked being on the upper landing since it is open like a balcony and there is a big window that she could see a lot of our street from. the moment I would turn my back or go out side to water plants or something she would head right up there. So I started blocking them with a baby gate and bolster. Now she runs up and down like crazy, her big thing is dropping her toy down the stairs, she loves to see it thump down a riser at a time. She will not do our basement stairs though and they are actually safer, but not finished, so when I go down there, she lays at the top with her paws and face hanging over the top step and then drops her toy down a few steps and wines until I bring it back up for her. Also be careful once your dog masters up or down he will follow you and get in between your feet, I have come close to getting tripped or pushing her off the step. Both she and my last dog have missed a step and rolled down them, so I try very hard not to have her follow me to closely or run down them to fast if the doorbell rings. | I thought about putting up our gates again, but I do want him to learn eventually. He already runs thru my legs when I am walking so I am SURE he will do it up the stairs, and knowing me...I will fall lol

| what size is your yorkie, Lola is about 6.5, my last guy was 4 and he had way more trouble going up or down, some days he would not even try. I think what would happen is that he would take a tumble or slip and I would not know it, then he would be scared for a while. So you might go through some of that, just be very careful and aware when you are going up or down, it is so easy to punk them off, especially now that Lola will carry toys with her. |

| does your dog go outside or on a piddle pad, since I work from home and my office is upstairs my pup is up here a lot, so going potty was a concern for me. Kirby, the little one (now gone) went on papers so i put a set up here during the day. Lola goes outside but only knows to ring the bell to alert me, so I put a set up bells up here and I would ring them each time we went down to potty until she got the hang of it, now that she is comfortable with the stairs I took them off and she runs down on her own. I also close all doors except for the office, a few days ago when I forgot she went into my master bath and the lower vanity was open and she carried out a roll of TP which she shredded through the whole upper level, even some below my desk and I was so busy working did not even know it was happening! or maybe LOL I was to busy on YT, now I must get back to trying to earn a living. | LOL! Mine did the same thing and Sukie is almost 4 months and still runs up the stairs as quick as can be but refuses to come down until I go get her on our staircase inside. Outside though she is up and down all the time. I think she is just rotten and knows mommy will come get her

| Just a little warning to those with wood slippery steps! We used to have a Shih Tzu and hard wood steps to the upstairs. He did fine on them until one day he was following my daughter upstairs after she had gotten home from school. Of course he was in a hurry and his slippery little feet slipped and he took a bad tumble down the stairs. He didn't break anything, thank God, but he was a hurting little guy for quite a while. After that I carpeted the steps myself. I wasn't about to take the chance of that happening to the poor little guy again. Don't ever take for granted the safety of your pet like I did. |
