| Yoshi still does not get along with Prissy... We brought Prissy home Nov 16th and Yoshi, our Pekingese still does not like her at all. He will growl if she gets near him so i do keep them separated unless I am holding her and letting them sniff each other..I have done everything that I know to do..Yoshi is fed first and gets all kinds of lovings. Do you think they will ever get along? Yoshi turned 6 this past Aug...I just don't know what else to do..

| Do you walk them together? This will help establish their bond - though it is a little tricky at first. You may have to get in there and help things along. First - make sure that Yoshi is being treated like the top dog in everything. Fed first; leashed first; treated first; greeted first . . and so on and so forth. (This really helped my jealous, dominant Westie to accept Lucy). Second - is there a room that you don't use much? Where Yoshi would not feel so territorial? We used the living room that Ringo didn't spent much time in. No toys on the floor. But my son and I would take Ringo and Lucy both in there (after being separated most of the day) and try to engage them both in play. Throw the toy for one - then the other - make it fun but still - it is separate play. After a while - Ringo would allow Lucy to chase him when he had the toy and they would get to playing. Third - try not to intervent TOO much in their squabbles. That can lead to problems too. Yoshi might offer gentle corrections to the puppy and will be looking for appeasing puppy behavior from her. As long as no one is getting hurt (definitely NO blood, etc) then try to stay out of it. Fourth - consider a trainer if you are totally stressing about it. They are probably picking up on your stress. I know mine did. This is just what worked for us and it did take some time.

| Thank you so much for replying, I thought there for a minute or two that I smelled bad, joking... You did make some very good points and I will try harder...as of now we all stay in the family room and this is where Prissy is all of the time too. Yoshi will usually get on DH lap and Prissy runs around playing. She does pounce at him and he doesn't like it at all since she does go for his face, I wouldn't like it either. Thank you so much and I truly appreciate your help.

| Well, keep us posted. For the first month - it was awful in our house. The dogs didn't get along; I was stressing; my son was mad that I had brought Lucy home to cause so much trouble . . . I was quite distraught. I frequented many dog forums and solicited advice. Many people (not me) are quite knowledgeable about doggie behavior and different people helped and guided me AND kept me from freaking out! If you google search 'introducing new dog' you will find many different articles, etc. It WILL work out. Let us know!
