| Does your pup make up 'strange' rituals? I know these yorkies are smart & truly creatures of habit just like we are, but sometimes Princess cracks me up with what she comes up with on her own. For instance, she does not come into the kitchen if I'm cooking at the stove. I never told her to stay out, she just always did. Well her new thing is when I come home from work, etc. she jumps at me some as I set my keys/purse down & then backs up to be picked up for kisses & baby talk. Now she's added this new part. I put her down after that then she runs to the end of the kitchen (attached to hall) & sits with her tail wagging like crazy. I call her over & we repeat above. Then she does it again but wont move. She just sits there & waits til I go into the L.R. or something then grabs a toy of course. Does your yorkie do anything that you didn't even teach them & you have no idea why they're doing it?

| Yes, Luna had to sniff at the bowl of kibble just inside the kitchen door every time she comes in from outside It's like she's checking to make sure that no one has been eating it

| Peek a Boo has to walk around my feet and up to his food bowl before he'll start to think about eating (just about a 1 foot diameter circle). If I put his food down and walk away before he walks around my feet, he won't eat. Then he stands there, looking at me, so I say 'Good Boy', 'What a Good Boy', 'Okay, You can eat now', or similar phrase. He won't eat until I say the right thing! Sometimes I have to pet him or straighten his beard before he eats. He's too funny. But after all this, he'll eat it all, without stopping till he's done.

| Kaji has to have a toy to eat. He has to fetch, kill, then walk over to his bowl. There, he will obssess over where he wants the ball. He'll pick it up, drop it, pick it up, put it near the bowl, pick it up, drop it, pick it up, put it in the bowl, pick it up, etc etc. he stops when he's satisfied with the toys placement and proceeds to eat while keeping an eye on the ball. He's so silly!!!!!

| I would love for Prissy to put her toys away, as of now she likes to drag them all out of the toy box...she will only eat if I am near her or put her into her playpen,,if I do neither she won't take the time to eat.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Tee hee! All these cute stories! I love them! Let's see, Katie Scarlett and rituals...the funniest thing that she does is coming to me after she tee tee's or poopies on her pad. We always do what we call woo woo/butt baths. I take a puppy wipe and wipe down there to keep her clean. Well after many 'baths', I think she expects it now. As soon as she is done, she comes over to where I am and looks at me. She then turns around and gets in a 'bow' stance with her butt/woo woo in the air. It's like she is staying...'a little service here.' LOL! She is such a hoot! The other thing that she does that keeps us cracked up is at puppy class. There is this big Mastiff in the class with her. He is the most gentle dog I have ever met and it's like he knows he is big and she is little. When she comes over to play, he gets in a 'down' position. She then crawls all over him, licks him, and such. Then she'll get right in his face, roll over, and put her legs up in the air so he can 'sniff' her! I swear, it's so embarassing! It's her way of 'flirting' I guess! I gotta get it on camera to show y'all!

| Just recently Tibbe has decided that he should get treats for eating! I cannot recall to save myself how this started but somehow during my post-op surgical period, obviously when I was under the influence of drugs, I must have treated Tibbe for eating his "puppy chow" as I call it to him, referring to his kibble, and that set a new precedent. Now, every time he eats from his bowl, he quickly scampers into the room where I am to get his treat! A treat for eating! And it is not like this dog has ever been a finicky eater that needed a reward or urging-on for eating - he's always eaten whatever was put down for him, no questions asked. But how we got to this new ritual of my little toot being rewarded for just basic eating is beyond me! But if it wasn't something I did that started this, maybe he just decided he should be treated after eating and came over and sat up and begged and I treated him for sitting up and begging and he thought it was for the eating - I just don't know. But anyway, I now have a dog that thinks he should get a reward for just eating - and he does! (His "treats" are actually his regular kibble just kept in an airtight container with some fresh beef jerky which scents all of the kibble just like the jerky so Tibbe thinks those kibble bits are just heaven - they smell so good.) Anyway, he now, through his latest ritual, gets a bit more kibble than before since he wrangles kibble "treats" from his hapless mommie just for eating breakfast and dinner!!!! Some how, some way, a Yorkie will always have the upper hand in our relationship with them!

Heidi makes me feel like I'm a terrible cook. Nearly everytime she sees me using the oven, she runs to the living room shaking & hides between a table & the sofa. LoL (When she was a pup, almost 3 yrs ago, something spilled & made a burning smell that scared her and she did that. Nearly 3 yrs later & she's still scared of my cooking!) Also, she will circle a jillion times before she decides its just the perfect spot to pee. I'm not exaggerating to say sometimes its around 25 times! Also, she doesn't like me to pick her toys up. I have to do it when she's not in the room to see, or she'll go get them all back out.

Max's ritual is taking his Ty Bow Wow Beanie Weenie dog for a walk after meals. He goes in and out of the tunnels created by the furniture. One of the stops on his walk is the floating couch where he looks over the back at me until I say, "Hi Max! I see you!" At the end of the walk, Max puts the doggie to bed.

| Aww, I love reading all of these stories too! Roxie also checks her bowl every time she comes in from outside, as if food has magically appeared while she was gone. And she doesn't let me put her toys away either, or she comes over and takes them all out again. Silly puppy. My favorite thing that she does is something that I know I shouldn't encourage, but it's so cute I can't help it. No matter how long I am gone from the house, whether it's 10 minutes or 6 hours, she will greet me at the door and jump up and down on her hind legs until I bend down and she can give me kisses. Sometimes she gets a little overexcited and bites my lip, but she's never done any lasting damage.

| Lola is a half pom half yorkie, I think this is a Pom thing, because none of my yorkies did this. She loves to fetch and right after she drops the toy she backs up and spins in a circle. She seems to spin a lot, it's very funny. My last dog was afraid of his water dish, he would sneak up at it, then jump back, over and over. He would also slide the bowl all over the room, finally when he wanted to drink he would spash it out of the bowl and drink from the floor. As you can imagine as cute as this was it was annoying. I tried so many different dishes, some none skid, some on stands, finally found a dish on a stand and a place mat with a grip backing and a small lip around it. He was quite small and it was funny to watch him with his paw trying to move the dish off the mat. He ate very little dry food and for about a year was also afraid of his food dish, I had to put the wet food on the floor, yuck. I tried things like cutting a paper plate to the size of the food, I also tried saran wrap, both worked some of the times but other times he would pull until the food flipped up in the air and off the plate or wrap, drove me nuts!!! He was afraid of a lot of things, like the vac which is normal but, he was really afraid of the dishwasher, the stove thing is funny, mine loves to stand by the stove, hoping something will fall that she can grab. |

| Well Teegy decided that when I'm sitting on the end of the chaise putting my boots on in the morning to take him out, that he should sit in my lap, so I gave him some rubs and a back massage, now he does it every morning. Wish I could sit in someone's lap and get a massage every morning |
