| Best shampoo for a dogs skin and hair I was using perfect coat, but I don't think its the best. I need something thats healthy for her skin, and will help with her hair growth. Also what dog food is best for their hair? |

| My VERY favorite shampoo is Minksheen. I think it is beyond wonderful! It last a long time too...it comes in a concentrated form, so you can dilute it with water. I just ordered a gallon of it yesterday! It has a wonderful scent too. For conditioner I use Pek. It is quite pricey though...and you have to have a minimum order of like $75. But, it too will last a long time. I've also used Vellus and like it. It smells AMAZING! And another one I've used I liked a lot was Chris Christensen. I'd love to hear what others say. If there is something...anything...that helps with growth, I'm all for that! Oh, you can add a tiny amount of oil to her food. That helps with keeping the skin from getting dry...it makes the hair shinier too. (Good oils would be salmon oil, coconut oil, anchovy oil....I'm sure there are others too.) I get an oil from my vet's office that I really like. It is omega 3 pet oil.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey's breeder shows her dogs, so it's really important that they have great coats and skin. She highly recommends Biogroom and said it was made specifically for Yorkies. You can get a trial pack by emailing the company and asking for some samples. I especially love the cream rinse/conditioner, she said don't overlook using a conditioner, it's important for the skin as well as the coat. I’ve tried lots of other products, but I always come back to Biogroom. It worked wonders on my little foster who had a bad case of what looked like dandruff on his coat and blackheads on his tummy. I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | When I requested my samples, they sent four different products. The regular shampoo, the fluffy puppy, and the oatmeal shampoo, along with the cream rinse. The products are highly concentrated; I think you're supposed to add water 6 to 1. I haven’t tried the oatmeal yet, but I know others who love it. Anyway, they are completely free, you don’t even have to pay for shipping and handling, so you might as well try it. Any company that does that is pretty sure you are going to like it!

| I like Minksheen during the summer months. But I use Yorkie Splash and Shine for the rest. I think the Yorkie Splash and Shine has a great lasting scent! You can find it here. Yorkie Splash and Yorkie Shine | Yorkie Shampoo and Yorkie Conditioner

| I use Envirogroom which is a groomer's shampoo and not sold undiluted. I use the Hypo Active shampoo and the Grapefruit conditioner (used as a creme rinse) for my Yorkie. I also like the Demat Pro, Cranberry facial, Eliminator shampoo, and the Skin Therapy shampoo. I hear the Oatmeal shampoo from this company is fantastic, but I've never used it. I was a grooming student before I moved to my new state. I still have all of my supplies. I'm on a forum for groomers and I read a lot of good comments on grooming products from Envirogroom, Les Pooch, B3 (Why Bitch Shampoo), Isle of Dog, Chris Christensen, and Show Seasons. The shampoos that you can get at stores that I've heard good things about is Nootie and Eqyss. Last edited by qtyorkies; 01-12-2012 at 04:26 PM. |

| I have used others but I really like the Yorkie Splash and Shine, too. The more I use it the better her coat looks. It's all natural and works wonders on the coat. Yorkie Splash and Yorkie Shine | Yorkie Shampoo and Yorkie Conditioner |

| It makes their coats really shiny! It does have a "different" smell. Some people like it while others don't. I liked it just fine.

To grow coat there are some guidelines: 1. Never brush a dry and or a dirty coat - Use a grooming spray and mist the coat from root to tip. don't forget to mist underneath the hair as well as on top 2. Wash your dog frequently - every 10 days minimum more frequently for a show dog. 3. Whatever shampoo you use, rinse, rinse, rinse, and when you've thought you've rinsed enough rinse again. rinse well under armpits, behind ears, across nose. Protect ears from water and after bath use an ear cleaner inside the ear to keep inner ear clean and dry. I usually spend about 10 minutes rinsing out the final shampoo. 4. What ever conditioner you use, let it sit in the coat at least 10minutes; longer if the coat is damaged. I heat up towels wrap Razzle in the towels and sit and cuddle him for the ten minutes, He loves his bath cuddle time. 5. Make sure your dog has access to water at all times. Good quality food is a must to product a healthy coat; but so is an appropriate amount of exercise and fun. Massaging your dog every day is good for the skin and the coat. 6. You can look at coat supplements. I like the Missing Link, Dr Maggies Isle of Dogs one too.
