| How did you get your Yorkie? I was just wondering the stories on how you got your baby(s)? I know some people here have really really cool stories! This is how we got Bailey: We saw a petstore that said "Yorkie Palace." There were signs on the window's and doors that said "Family raised!" Etc... SO we go in and see all these yorkies and a few other small breed dogs. I always wanted a yorkie. We look around and there are the "teacup" and regular. We look at the regular's because we weren't spendin over $1000 for a dog. I wanted a girl, so I ask the owner if he had any girl yorkies. He shows me Bailey and she just sitts there quietly and everything. Sleeps in my arms. SO CUTE! Well we don't get her... But we put $100 hold down. Later that week, we go get her. But now there were two yorkies! We didn't know which one was Bailey. One was going crazy and haveing fun while the other was kinda sitting there. We chose the quiet one because that one looked like the one that we saw... BUT THEY WERE SISTERS! SO they look exactly alike. I wouldn't change her for the world, but it was a hard decision. When I tell my dentist that we just got a puppy, she asks the basic stuff... name, blah blah blah. But then she asks where we got her. I tell her and she says REALLY? That is my really good friends shop! I said, "really? Does he actually home raise them?" And she said YES! I was so happy. She said she went to his house and there are all these dogs that he breeds! I was grateful that she didn't come from a mill! WHATS YOUR STORY? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I got Trixie off Kajiji. She is a Chorkie but looks pure Yorkie but with a long tail. Had her shipped here (cost and shipping were less than buying locally from a breeder or the paper) I still remember hubby bringing her home He told me that they ALMOST thought the crate was empty it was so light and she was so tiny.

| Well, I have always owned dogs, but hubby didn't grow up with any. I have a friend who has a yorkie and I fell in love with him. BUT, hubby said no dogs. I waited until we had a few friends over, including our friend's yorkie. As the night went on and hubby had a few 'adult beverages', I asked him in front of everyone. (so he couldn't say the next day that he didn't say yes). And, he said yes! Then, 2 yrs later, I wanted another one and he said no again, so I waited until the opportune time to ask again. That particular time, he had done something that had upset me and he knew it. The very next day, I asked for another yorkie and since hubby was in the 'dog house' at the time, I think he said yes, to ease the tension. LOL. So there ya go. I just recently got a 4 month old Maltese (owned a maltese previously) I asked for him as a Christmas gift, same story as the first. We were at a party and I asked after he had a few drinks. So what do you think he said? LOL I did, however make sure he was REALLY okay with dogs before I went through the research and adopting process or I would not have gotten them if I didn't have his support. | Princess was definitely from a BYB, though I didn't know til after the fact, but I've been relatively lucky. I called a lady in the newspaper who didn't have any available but referred me to the lady I got her from (who was her friend??). I sent a very small deposit in after seeing one pic of her & her four sister's in an email. I got a couple more pics & pics of her parents that I found out were not really them later on. Wow, I was some what educated, yet the most naive buyer ever! Long story short, she met me in my town as she was driving south & I handed her cash for Princess at 9.5 weeks. All of the bad signs were there, but I asked the questions I was told to ask & she had an answer for everything. I wouldn't trade her for the world, but after just watching 'Madonna of the Mills' last night I hope I can keep my vow to only rescue in the future.

| Sparrow was from a rescue in our area. I think I got fairly lucky considering that she is small, young, pretty, very sweet (after being well socialized), and healthy except for her luxating patellas. The fact that she had luxating patella is why her breeder gave her up to the rescue. She wasn't good for breeding because of the LP, and she was not seen as a pet of any kind because she wasn't socialized around people in the least. |

| I got my first Yorkie from a lady that I use to clean for. We became very good friends and her husband had gotten a job offer in NC and she could not take her dogs (7) of them which included three yorkies. Spike, the smallest one, went to her son, Bentley, she kept, she was allowed to keep one dog and Sophie Lynn, she gave to me as a Christmas present. I lost Sophie in October of 2010 and I was devestated so my children went and got me Scooter (yorkie poo ) and then I seen an add for Sadie on the internet, not being wise to BYB or Puppy Mills at the time, I went and bought her. Drove 200 miles for her. She is a silky. I love my babies.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Katie Scarlett has truly been a blessing in my life. After years of trying to get pregnant, numerous visits to doctors, visitis to infertility specialists...I was ready to just give up and never have children. I want a skin kid so bad, but I have come to accept that it may not be in the cards for me. My husband wants children really bad, but he isn't frustrated with me or anything. After seeing a reproductive endocrinologists, we found out that he is completely normal...the problem lies with me. They still are not 100% sure what it is. But after all that time I fell into such a deep depression. I just felt so helpless. I didn't have any control over the situation and that is the worst feeling in the world to me. I like to feel that I at least have a little bit of control, you know? I told Brandon that I just had to stop for a bit. I needed to take a step back and re group. He has been the best and understood that I needed time. I eventually had to go to my doctor and be put on anti depressants. After that, I am like a new person. I never worry about kids anymore. Yes, it still bothers me, but it doesn't consume me like it used to. Well after the med, I still will have my down days. Well this year right before my birthday, Brandon came in and said he had been thinking....he decided that he would purchase me the dog of my dreams....a Yorkie! I have wanted a Yorkie for soooo long. I was floored! We had never had a dog of our own and we immediately began preparations. I spent a while researching breeders and found ours. We knew Katie Scarlett was 'the one' the minute we laid eyes on her. I put a deposit down on her and began the wait until she could come home to us at 12 weeks. During that time, I puppy proofed the house and read anything I could get my hands on about Yorkies, puppies, training, etc. When she finally came home, it was just so natural. It's like she has always been here and we are in heaven! We have had her 3 months now and cannot imagine a day without our Katie Scarlett! At this point, I could honestly say that she can be my 'baby' and I would be fine, but I know in the back of my mind that my husband still wants to try. And Katie Scarlett has given me that want to back. She has given me my life back. She makes me happy and I know that whether we have kids or not, she will be right by our side and along for any ride we take together. I hope she is here a long, long time. I love her more than I could ever put into words!!!

| We saw Harlie in an online ad from the Ft. Worth Star Telegram. We knew from the start that she was from a BYB. But we also knew that this BYB was extremely well thought of and had been breeding yorkies for many years. We went to see Harlie, about 100 miles away, and was freaked out by her overly exited manners and thought she might be a hand full. There was another BYB, also well thought of, about 10 miles down the road. Here there was a litter of 4, very adorable pups, but they seemed very quiet and subdued. We drove back and forth 3 times trying to decide between the pups. We were able to meet the dam and sire at both breeders locations and were able review their documented lineage and AKC information. We decided on the feisty one, Harlie. She's of Brazilian ancestry and is now registered as "Harlie Queen of Court". I wouldn't take a million dollars for her... |

| My is a rescue from a byb. A lady at work told me about a byb who was getting rid of her female. Brandi was 7 yrs old and very much neglected. About the only thing the greeder did was breed her and nothing else. Poor Brandi was a mess when i got her. But don't feel sorry for her, she is now the diva of the house, and a bona fide member of the spoiled rotten club. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | I was shopping in Bed Bath & Beyond and saw a woman with a yorkie in her cart. We bonded instantly and I asked her where she got her baby. She told me a breeder who has been doing it for 30 years. I wrote her in Sept. and she wrote me that I could see the litter in October. I fell in love and brought Jake home on Dec 5th. He has a big brother Dunkin who is 11. It was meant to be |

| We got our Bradley from my SIL, she works as a lab tec for the BCA. After 9-11 she swas working 12-14 hrs a day and felt that we could give Brad a better home. We had Brad until July 11 when he passed of old age. I'd been scouring the shelters for a cople of mo's until I found Andy in a shelter 100 miles south of here. I called and said I could come and get him tomarrow. The lady said, "He wont be here tomarrow" They put a travel hold on him for us, and we went down that evening after my wife got off work. When we walked into the shelter there were 3 people waiting in line to see if we were going to take him home. One look at the litter stinker and there was no way we were leaving without him! The look on the waiting peoples faces as we signed the adoption papers was heartbreaking. We LOVE our little Andy. I never thougth I'd like small breed dogs, but after Bradley had me wrapped around his paws, I don't think we'll ever be without a Yorkie in our house! |

| I went to visit my parents in AZ and we went shopping at a large mall in Scottsdale. I walked into the pet shop and there in the cage was a female Yorkie. The lady put her and I in the bonding room and the little thing was so scared she just clung to me. It was like all anyone ever did with her was pick her up to give her a shot or meds and never held her to love her. I just couldn't put her back in the cage again. $2300 later I walked out with her! She is the love of my life and a real mama's girl. Oh ya, I took a picture of her in my parents kitchen on my cell phone and sent it to my husband with the caption; "Our new addition!" |

| I got Cozy from a local breeder. See was a returned puppy because her 1st owner was diagnosised with breast cancer (stage 4) right after getting her and did not have a support system to help her and care for a puppy. So she returned her to the breeder. My other 3 are offspring from Cozy.
