| LuckyPet tags and my experience this afternoon with Bogey As most of you know I am a strong supporter of dogs always wearing ID tags. I believe the need greatly outweighs all opposition that I have heard regarding safety in not wearing them. So with that being said I would like to share what happened today and once again a tag brought my Bogey home safely. A few months ago I ordered new ID tags for all three from LuckyPet.com with Owner Alert. They are very well made, engraved and well made. Owner Alert was an additional fee of $9.95 when I ordered the tags but covers all three tags and any tags I order in the future. Pebbles was not feeling well for the past few days and I decided it was time for a vet visit. As I was pulling out of the driveway, the ComEd (electric) meter reader was pulling into my neighbors driveway. They use a "gun" to read the meters from their car and pull into each driveway as they work. Normally, they are able to read my meter this way as well but since I was pulling out of the driveway he skipped my house and went to the neighbors house. He must have then gotten out of his car and went into my backyard to read my meter because he would not have been able to do so from their driveway. (I'm going to try to be nice ) The stupid moron, idiot, foul, @$$jack LEFT MY SIDE GATE OPEN after coming into my yard My teenage daughter was home and Bogey and Doodlebug wanted out to potty. She let them out and didn't pay attention or notice that the gate was WIDE OPEN! I always stay and watch when they are out but of course the kids think I'm a crazy dog lady and never do as mom does. Long story short~Bogey took off! We have lived in our home for almost 20 years. It was a very quiet dead end road until last year. The county put a 4 lane 40 MPH road through and it's not quite busy. Bogey headed straight to the road. I of course have no idea any of this is going on because I am in the vet's office but my phone is ringing........dang thing is always going off ! As soon as I pay the bill ($172 ) I check my messages and I have 2 VMs and a txt. The first VM is from LuckyPet that Bogey has been found~~I didn't even know he was outside let alone missing! They left their 800 number and asked that I call them back which of course I did immediately. I was relieved to hear that he was safe but the man that found him said he their was NO ANSWER at my front door! HELLO......where the HE!! are my two kids and whj are they not answering the door! UGHHHHH! As I am driving at break neck speed toward home and talking to the LuckyPet rep she was just wonderful! Very calm and reassuring that Bogey was fine and that the man that found him was knocking at the door with NO ANSWER. I hung up with her and tried to call both of the cellphones~NO ANSWER All they need to do is open the front door and there is a man standing there was Bogey! Unlike my moron children LUCKYPET is wonderful! The phone calls to multiple phone numbers to myself, my husband and kids alerting us to Bogey being found. The TXT msg was just icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned.

| OMG...sorry you had to go through all of this and with Pebbles not feeling well too. So glad to hear that Bogey is alright...thank God you had his tags on him. I have a lucky pet tag also, but didn't know about owner alert. I will be contacting them for a new pet tag with this service. I am so glad that you have a happy ending and that all your pups are home safe and sound. I'm sure you had a nice word with your kids about not answering the door or their phones...my kids do the same thing to me at times. Thanks for sharing. It may one day save another dog from being lost. How is Pebbles feeling now? Hoping she is doing better.

| We have the lucky pet owner alerts. And I too am a firm believer in 24/7 collars on with ID tags. I have never had a problem and my dogs have been wearing their collars and tags since they were 8 weeks, 8 weeks, and 10 weeks old. No one has gone missing, but I'm glad I paid the $9.95 for the owner alert. I liked the idea of being able to update the info if I changed my phone number or vet. It is very reassuring that the company was reliable and most importantly that Bogey was reunited with his family and is safe.

| I am so sorry that you had to go through this today, but also glad that you posted this. I am going to order Jack some ID tags and I know just where to get them and the fact that the $9.95 fee will be like $1,000,000 if he ever strays, is just wonderful!

| I am so glad Bogey made it home safely & Pebbles is on the mend. I will definitely be ordering one of these tags! As you and others have said, you cannot put a price on having your baby returned-especially at $10!

| Holy cow what a day! I always keep tags on Jackson too. Well except at night when he's gated in my bedroom. But for the most part, he's always got his collar/tags on. I also don't live alone so it makes me feel more secure that if, by chance, he were to get out when I was not there, I'd have a higher chance of him being returned. So scary! Everyone's biggest nightmare. Glad the tag worked out for you.

| I'd like to keep tags on Gracie at all times, but she won't tolerate a collar and I hate to keep a harness on her all the time. The tags hang under her chin and she worries them to death and one time got her lower jaw caught in her collar - scared her and me to death! We don't have a yard so she gets out for walks with us etc, but is never let out of the house to pee or anything. I always check her harness and leash carefully to make sure nothing is loose so she can't get away from us. So, not much risk, but still..... I'm a little afraid of making the collar too tight to remedy the problem. Do I just put it on her (a little tighter) and wait until she gets tired of fussing? |

| I am so glad Bogey is home safe and sound. How scarey! Glad the tags work. We can't let our guys out in the yard for a variety of reasons, but we keep padlocks on our gates because we have had trouble with service people and kids coming in our backyard. I would padlock your gates.

| Tags are great, but they do not protect the dog in any way from the dangers of running loose. I am still 'on the fence' about the strangulation dangers of dogs wearing collars in the home. I choose not to have my dogs wear them. They are all microchipped. That said, I began by teaching mine to get back so I could answer the door. Then, I desensitized them from bolting out the door whenever it is opened. That only took about 15 minutes to teach and reinforce. Then when going for a walk, I make them get back so I can open the gate, we walk through, then they have to wait while I close the gate. For me, this training was just basic manners, and for safety (theirs and mine). Falling down when trying to walk 4 hyper dogs will not happen here again. One day the inevitable happened: someone left the gate open, and I always check the gate, visually, from my door before opening it. My gate has a spring on it so it self closes with a little help. This day it was windy, just enough to blow the gate open, and they all got out. I got a call from my neighbor: Your dogs are out. Me: I know... I let them out. Neighbor: No, they are out of the yard! Me: Threw the phone down as I raced to the door and outside to catch them. When I got to the gate, they were all just outside the gate on the walkway, and it looked like they were trying to figure out what to do next. They looked a little relieved to see me, and I just said, Hey guys, come on back in here.... we'll go for a walk in a bit. And they all came back in the yard! I've thought about this alot, I've never done any off-lead training with them, so the only thing I can figure is the door training as I mentioned above. Or maybe they felt lost without their leads and harnesses on. Or maybe the wait for me to close the gate after we all pass through it. Anyway, I am definitely going to keep up with this training. They are way far from perfect, a barking, jumping mess of hooligans, and I'm shocked that they even retained anything... but obviously something got through to them. They still need alot of work. These little dogs are very smart, and it's really not too difficult to train them. It's well worth the effort and time required. Even with a tag, someone could still steal your dog. I am glad everything worked out for you this time, and that your girl is on the mend.
