| I would have the vet look in there because it sounds like she could have an infection or something. Are you brushing her teeth?

| Don't feel stupid but you should start brushing there teeth when they are puppies so they get used to it and that you keep the adult teeth that come in clean from the start.

Is this what might be causing the funky breath? I have already crossed off a bully stick.....we haven't had one in a bit. Tips on brushing teeth? toothpaste? no toothpaste? type of toothbrush?

| Callie has always let me brush her teeth so I am not sure on any tips but I like the CET toothpaste in vanilla mint I got it on Amazon and that's also where I got the small toothbrush, some people use a soft baby toothbrush. Don't use human toothpaste. It could be the cause but there also might be in infection or something going on in there. On the bully sticks we use bestbullysticks.com odor free ones and they really are odor free and Callie loves them.

| OK. I just looked at her age. She must be teething. When they are teething, they get this awful coppery sort of smell in their mouth.

| Probably just retained baby teeth. How old is she? Very common in little dogs for their baby teeth to need to be pulled out -- usually they will do this during the spay/neuter. Baby teeth don't really NEED to be brushed, it's just recommended so that you can get your dog used to brushing. I wish I would have started with Jackson younger.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes, that's a nasty smell when they are losing teeth and gaining new ones. Mixture of blood and fish, and rotted food that gets in gum pockets. Soon as her permanent teeth all come in the breath will be fine. I agree with others it's a good time to get them use to brushing. I really don't think you need to see a vet for this. By the way, most Yorkies don't lose all their baby teeth on their own, and most of us have the remaining ones pulled during a spay or neuter.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Annie had the worst breath when she was teething. It was so bad we could smell it when she even past by us. It was simply gross!! But, as stated above it cleared up as soon as she lost all her baby teeth. Good luck!!!
