Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Sigh... Hey y'all! I am sad this morning. As many of you know, Katie Scarlett is 5 months old. We have had her 2 months. She was doing fabulous on her potty training. I thought she was almost all the way there. She had not had an accident in at least 2 weeks. Well yesterday she had 2 accidents and she has already had 2 more this morning! Is she regressing? What do I do? She hasn't had any change of lifestyle, food, etc. She has been feeling great, no sickness or anything. We haven't moved the potty pads or anything. Do they 'forget' sometimes or what? What do I do to let her know that pottying on the carpet is a no no? Will she get better? She hasn't been spayed yet. We are going to set up the appointment for that after Christmas. I'm just kinda sad. I was so proud. She was doing so good! Now I feel like I've done something to mess it all up. I know, or I hope, she will get better. I don't mind cleaning it up. She is my baby and I love her, but I do want her to use the potty right as much as she can. I know they have accidents, but still. I didn't yell or anything at her. I firmly told her 'no' and let her know that is not where we potty. She also has been 'acting out' here lately. She does what we call 'back barking.' When we tell her to do something, she will put up a little bit of a fuss. Definitely in those teen years as I mentioned earlier. Could this be her acting out with the pee/poopie too? Any advice? Thanks guys!

| Try to relax. Oz has done this thing too. He had gone many weeks as well and then had a couple accidents. Then he was fine for another 3 weeks or so and had another accident. I think the main thing is to continue praising for going in the places you want her to, and a very stern NO when she goes where you don't. Just keep at it. They're not robots, so they do make mistakes. Oz has now gone a couple months without an accident. Don't get discouraged.

| Try as much as I could, only using positive reinforcement didn't work for Harley. I had to implement a "time out" system and I only had to do it twice before he caught on, now he only gets time out when he pees on the bed which is luckily only every month or so. For time out, I yell in a deep low voice "No! Bad, Time out" I grab him and run to his crate, I pull everything out and he sits in his crate for 1-2 minutes with nothing in the crate (no food, water, blankets, toys, etc). Then when I've calmed down I go back and make him "down" in the crate and wait until I let him out. It is very important that time outs are no longer than 2 minutes, dogs don't remember that long, they get the point quicker if you simply punish them for 30 seconds and then move on. The only reason my time outs are 2 minutes long is because I use that time to tear the bed apart and start cleaning. Its a matter of personal preference, I in no way endorse any other types of punishment, I'm a reward trainer, but that just wasn't enough for Harley, he likes to mark blankets.

| Rhianna did the same thing when she was going to go into heat . . .I don't think Katie Scarlet is regressing, but she might be getting ready for her first heat.
