Consequences I hope someone can help me with this. I want more yorkies in the future, but i'm sure my city don't allow more than 3 adult dog on my property. And i'm sure some of you are in the same shoe. So I'm here to ask... if I have more than 3 dogs and I take great care of them... what are the consequences that I may face if they find out?? can they take my dogs away from me??

laws In the county I just left in MD..they got so strict on animal regs. There were a number of breeders who moved to other counties. No limit on numbers, breeding...but in order to sell a pup from your home you needed a commerical licence. It was not possible to get a commerical licence in a residentual area. Several of us got notices and were given summons to appear before the animal control board. The fine was $300 to $500 per violation. Animal Control said they would issue a daily violation. I took a lawyer friend with me and I did not get fined., the others did..how fair is that? Animal control started sending people undercover to buy pups from breeders then fine them. got very scary. I had a friend in Baltimore county who got a $50 a day fine until she got her numbers down to 4..county limit. She made the mistake of putting her dogs in the yard at the same time and they barked..neighbors complainted. SHe had 8 Yorkies and a Dane puppy.. I know many breeders in limited dog counties..they keep quiet and do not allow their animals all out at once and no barking, keep the yard cleaned up..no complaints.

| I am from West Tennessee so I can't help you there. But maybe you could build an adjorning room that looks like another small house. Just kidding. I have five dogs in the house with me and we are thinking of adding on to the house and giving the dogs their own room. Here in Sardis (a/k/a Star Dust it is a really small town, Andy Griffin even - no stop lights.) There was a man down the road from us that had a goat and a dog in the house. {Not all of us are snaggle tooth, hayseed, barefoot hill billies with straw hanging from only two teeth} I am glad we don't have those restriction here.

you guys are very helpful this is my situation and my set up right now, maybe you can get a clearer picture. YES I did build them a house.. it is in my back yard, it is 12ft high 8foot by 10foot. It is under the trees for shade so I won't have to use A/C also I sound proof it. I put in two fans that take all the amonica and smell out like that in your rest room and a fan that brings in fresh air. In their house I build a 3 level kennel that is 3.5 feet wide and 7 feet long. It has trays underneath to collect urine and poops so they don't step on it. They have their own bed. Originally since I only have 3 yorkies I wanted to put one on each level but they miss each other so I put all 3 in the middle level. I put their bed on that middle level. They stay there when i'm at work. When i'm home they are in the yard playing as I clean their quarter and put in new food and water. They play with my husky, cus I keep the husky out side as they need room to run around. When they play with the husky they don't bark. The only time my yorkie back is when they are in their house and hear me coming out of my house when I open the sliding door. I love yorkies cus hey don't bark... all my neighbor have dogs of their own. I fortified my wooden fence with wire mesh so my husky can't get out. All of the poop goes in the trash... the pooor trash man..... with that said.. I hope I can keep it on the down low...hehehehheh

| Check out this kennel http://www.diannespuppypatch.com/pam...oochhotel.html this is not my kennel just what I found on the internet. I don't have enough pups to justify building something like this. It might give you some ideas though.

hehe yes it is a nice set up but I dont have that many either ..besides.. they live in a 3x4 box and their play play is only a 6 x 10foot pin....not my thing.. I let my dog have the whole yard when they play. their living quarter is 3.5foot by 7foot.. for their beds and enough room for them to pee and poop and their food and water. That pix are for big time breeders, it is well design though... and besides they live in the country... i live in the city.

I know that here in MIA by law you can have a maximum of 4 dogs. But i always thought that if you run a rescue or are a breeder (with the permision to sell and all) you can have more as long as they are well cared for!

Co I lived in Charles county..it is southern MD...lived there for 35 yrs..no problems until all the laws changed 6 yrs or so ago. I advise any new dog owner to go to the court house or AC and get a copy of animal regs. I questioned the reasons for the law change. In the past I got a hobby breeders licence for $50 and never had a problem. Chas Co. hates breeders and they have made a vow to get rid of all in the county. A friend of mine worked at the Humane Society and told me what was going on..warned me to be careful, they were out to get breeders. You can not groom, board friends dogs or sell dogs from a residental area..you must have a licence and the catch is, no licence can be issued in a residental area...they feel we are taking money out of the pockets of vet groomers and commerical breeders...yes, they back the commerical kennels/millers and do not bother them..the caring, show/pet breeder is hounded to death. I had an undercover Animal control come to my house took pictures with a hidden camera buying a Yorkie from me..she had good vet references, signed a neuter contract,..and the pup neutered by the vet who referred her...then hailed me into court. The vet was a member of the board at AC court..shame on him. He knew me for 25 yrs..took care of my champions and encouraged me to show more..then sets me up. I had the last word and threatened a law suit, for harssment, they backed off..by that time we had no desire to live in the county again...they do not care about the welfare of dogs if a commerical breeder or miller can do as they please, by a pet/show breeder is fined for the slightest thing...off my soap box now.

California You are in California..I beleive it is Marin Co (sp) that does not allow breeding of any type. Doris Day foundation had alot to do with it. I knew a few Yorkie show breeders there that moved. Limit on numbers of dogs is quite common in many counties..east and west coast..many rural counties are very lacked..my kind of county! LOL

I AM AMAZED !!!!!!!! I HAVE SAT HEAR READING ALL THIS....I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!!! I live in a small rural county in South Carolina....."God's Country"...and have never ...in my entire life ....heard of such a thing! Don't accuse me of being young and naive...I'll be 50 years old in 3 weeks! I do not know what I would do if someone came and told me I could not have ANY one of my 3!!! And I am hoping to get another....and maybe even then have a litter from somebody! We have had 1 episode in South Carolina recently where some crazy lady had something like 200 animals...mostly dogs, but also birds and cats...the animal control people got a complaint (thank goodness) and went to check it out....the animals were soooooo neglected....apparently she let things get out of control then had some health problems....didn't know who or how to ask for help! Actually she was just a few miles from the breeder I got Lil Bit from....I thought for a minute it may have been her!!!!! Good Luck to you folks living in some of those weird places...
