YT 2000 Club Donating Member | A breeders Lament I was asked to post this in the General Forum. for many of you, you don't know that I don't breed Yorkshire Terriers, but I do breed Black Russians. And yes I do have a YT multi champion who may be bred someday to the right female. A Breeders Lament Okay, breeders are a relatively small group of folks, and particularly purebred responsible breeders. There is so much heartache and worry in breeding, from whelping, to health tests, to showing, to doing your best to put pups in good homes. When I look at what I do and what I don't do. The time, energy and money I spend in raising, rearing, training, showing dogs, and I see so many many threads here of oopsey pregnancies, Oh I just want to have some offspring from my female, etc. Oh btw, how come it is so many female owners who just want off spring, and not the male owners posting so much? Today I got some bad news for my heartdog Magic. He is almost six years old and a Multi Champion BRT. I have decided based on this health news to pull him from the breeding pool. He is a dog I've invested many many hours of training, showing, testing, rehab and is a remarkable example of this breed in so many ways. My test results will be posted, on all available sites, in order to help other breeders in their breeding decisions. I am in tears about this. I will again do all the rehab necessary to help him live a happy and fulfilling doggy life. I hope one day to compete with him again in the obedience ring, God willing and joints healing. If not there, then knowing his needs, some other performance sport that will be easy on him. This is the breeders life. A great dog, that can over time show up with weaknesses that outweigh their strengths. I have no time of day, for those that do not test, do not research, and do not do what is best for their breed.
