| Welcome to YT. I am sure you are excited on getting your new puppy. They are a lot of responsibility and please make sure your puppy is 12 weeks or older before you take him home. They need to be socialized and stay with the owner to make sure they eat and are of good weight. You will need a good puppyfood which I am sure the breeder will help you with. Toys he will need and you want to give him lots of attention. Also get some nutrical because puppies can get weak and need this. Read all you can on the yorkie and YT is a great place to help you on your way to owning a puppy. Well good luck with your new puppy and hope you enjoy him as much as I enjoy my litttle girl. |

Seriously, welcome to YT. I hope you used a misnomer by "ordering" a yorkie pup.

| I order my yorkies all the time but they never listen ( giggle ) Seriously, how do you order a Yorkie? Did you meet with the breeder? Are you sure this pup is not coming from a puppy mill? Is this puppy old enough to leave the Momma? I just don't understand ordering a puppy.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome. Congratulations on your new puppy. The breeder should give you instructions on how to care for him. It is important to remember puppies take a lot of patience and time. You will want an ex pen or crate to keep him in when no one is watching him. Make sure you read about hypoglycemia and watch him for any signs of it. You can get Nutrical at Petsmart or pecto. This can save a puppies life if they should go hypoglycemic. You want to use a harness instead of a collar when walking him because they have very sensitive trachea's and you don't want to put pressure on it. Also, don't leave him up on a bed or couch as he could try and jump off and he could get hurt. I always have a firm grip on any of mine when I am holding them. I have one that like to leap out of your arms. Read as much as you can before he comes home and schedule a visit with the vet you will be using. Good luck and enjoy!

| Congrats on the new puppy!! There are a ton of threads here that will answer all of your questions!! I do hope you found a good breeder and not some Internet site with "designer" yorkies.... I do hope you will return and explain what you meant by "order"...

| By "ordering" I meant that I live in Texas and the best dog breeder we could find was in Maryland, so we reserved the puppy and we are going to pick him up after Xmas. |

| What do you need for a new Yorkie puppy? Hmmm ... A good start would be: An x-pen and/or a crate, a high quality dog food, food/water dishes, toys (especially ones good for teething puppies), shampoo/conditioner for bathing, step-in or choke free harness(es), leashes, if you decide to have a collar I would only use it for i.d. tags, a vet record book would be handy to have for when you take your puppy in for his/her shots and neuter/spay if you so decide to have them fixed, puppy pads, a comfy dog bed (may I suggest Yorkie Haven Rescue Cloud Nine beds?), tasty treats for training your new puppy (Nilla began training on Zuke's peanut butter formula, which was an absolute hit and comes in good size treats for smaller dogs), a good brush/comb set as Yorkies require a lot of grooming (toplinepet sells Madan pin brushes which are wonderful!), ... and I'm sure there is more that is just not popping into my mind at the present time.
