| Really need to Vent!!! Hi, I normally don’t post much but I really need to vent!! My7 year old rescue Hope just died on Thanksgiving night. She was Heartworm positive when we got her inAugust. She received one of the last Immiticide vials in our area. She had lots of complications after thetreatment and it was very hard on her. Anyways the vet who gave her the treatment was wonderful but the officemanagement was very lacking in sensitivity and common sense. We paid $350 forthe treatment which involved an injection and then 24 hours later anotherinjection plus blood work and overnight stay, then a visit 1 month later for justthe doc to look at her, and then a 6 month follow up for a vet check along withblood work. The payment was set up for3 payments of like $116 one for each visit. We paid $116 when we dropped heroff the first time and then the next day paid the rest when we pick her up Igot a receipt that said paid in full. That next month we went in we were told to pay $235. I told her we arepaid in full and instead of looking at the chart or record or whatever they useshe questioned me. Finally looked down at the paper right there by her and magicallyit was paid in full. One of the other receptioniststried to answer medication questions with" I think she (the doctor) meant”and would not even go ask to make sure. That makes me very mad!! This Monday I called to let them know thatHope had died and that I would like to see about a refund for the 6 month follow up that she nolonger needed. And she says in the most chipper/condescending tone ever” oh I'mso sorry what did she die of “I said complications from the heartworm treatment.“Well did you take her to the er vet" I said no she died while our vet wason the phone with us instructing us on how to give her CPR. The doctor calls me later explaining how theywere not at fault so a refund was not warranted. I agreed with her and saidthat I did not expect a full refund but only for the services that would not beprovided. (She was very kind and caringthe whole time) Then she says she was sorry for the confusion the message shegot was that I wanted a full refund!!! I just want to pull my hair out!!! Our vet that Hope had been seeing In our town also very nice! And coincidently happened to be the husband to the other vet . Has the samekind of Staff. I mean really when you leave the vets office what do younormally go do??? Uhhh pay??? I go and stand at the desk to pay and forabout 5 mins the person in front of me won’t look at me or say anything …. And that’sok I’ll wait I don’t mind that but then he says “You can have a seat I know I’mpretty but you don’t have to stand there I’ll call you up” Really!! can people really be that rude!! And one other timethe doctor had me follow him out of the exam room to look at some x-rays andwhen we were done we started to walk out but he was pulled aside. I went backto the exam room. I waited a good 20 mins and started wondering if I was supposedto wait there or meet him up front. (Iwasn’t mad about waiting at all I work in a dr office I understand wait times)I stuck my head out and asked his assistant if I was to go up front or waitthere and she said she would ask. I go back inside and hear her ask him… In I guess what was supposed to be my voice (ifyou know what I mean) repeat what I said. …… Big sigh. Over the past 3 months we spent over $900dollars between both places and missed lots of work to make theses visits. Anddon’t get me wrong I would do it again but can’t people have better customerservice skills if they are going to be let out in public?? |

| Thank you. It was a very hard 3 months watching her go through this. She would have a good week and then a bad week . She had made such great inprovement from the weekend before. I thought we were on the down hill slide. But in just one evening she went from bad to worse. I watched her stand up on my sons futon and then just collaspe to the the ground. |

| I am sorry for your loss. I hope she didn't suffer. Forgive me, but I am at a loss as to why there is a single sentence about Hope dying, then an entire page of ranting about time and money spent on her, and rude people at the vet's office. Perhaps this is just your way of grieving. Regardless, sending thoughts and prayers for you during this tough time.

I have talked to so many people about the whole experience with Hope and all of her suffering and to tell you the truth they just don't care and don't really seem to understand how you can get attached to dog so soon. I guess this is probably the one place where people really do understand and care. It got to where I was posting too many updates about her on facebook and my own brother posted rude comments to me about how I post more about her than my own children. It was very hurtful when all I was trying to do was show my love for her and share with others about the love I have for Yorkie rescues. Thank you for showing concern. | |

I'm a medical assistant here in NY and man it boils my blood when I see anyone who works with me become rude with patients...let along a really sick one. I'm sorry for your loss and the rude people you ran into.. maybe you should call the department of health and ask for the office to be checked out.... hope your hold up ok. hugs

| I am so sorry for your loss and for the lack of professionalism and compassion shown to you. When you feel up to it you might consider a meeting alone with each of the vets. Be sure to write down the rude moments and share with the vets. If you were satisfied with the actual vet care be sure to tell them that as well and make sure that they understand that your consern is not with the vet care but the employees that seem to leave their "give a @@mn" at home each morning. |

| I'm so sorry for your loss. There's no excuse for that type of behavior. I'd file a formal complaint.

| I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a loved baby is emotionally and physically draining. I know the pain in the heart that never really goes away. If the vets are private, then they hire their office staff. I would let them ( the vets) know that you will be looking for another vet should you need one. The vet care may have been adequate but the customer service can not be tolerated. You are right to feel angry, and have a right to expect better. If the Vets work for a company and have no control over the staff then contact the company. If business is lost, either by the vets or the company because of staff perhaps an attitude adjustment is in order. If this happened to you it probably is happening to others. And of course, letting other pet owners in your area know what happened to you may save others from your experience, and hurt the vets. Good luck, and know that my thoughts are with you in your time of sorrow. |

| Sorry for your loss. Sometimes people are rude. Perhaps they hate their job, their life, whatever. I've run in to many people who don't need to be up front talking to people. We just have to make the best of it and move on. Hope was a very lucky dog to have you, and while your time together was short, it obviously was great. In time, hopefully you'll try again and this time, find a vet where the people up front care! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm so sorry for you loss, I think your post is also a great reminder why people should give heartworm meds all year long, it's a very painful disease and very expensive to treat. Again, I'm sorry you had to go through this.
