| Micro-Chip Tag??? The vet sent a little tag home with Brutus that says "I'm lost, I'm microchipped with resQ. Contact www.Petlink.net" plus a phone number. What do YOU do with it? I don't have a collar on Brutus, and when we walk, we have a harness and he is on a leash. Do you just put the tag on the harness just in case? Not sure what I should do with it, BUT in the event Brutus would go missing I would want people to know how to find us.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | We keep Katie Scarlett's things clipped onto her harness on the little metal D ring. We currently have one of those 'get me home' and her rabies tag on there now. We are going to have her microchipped when she goes in for her spay and then I'll probably put that in the same place. I do not keep a collar on Katie Scarlett. She is never out of the house unless her harness is on, so I did not see a need for one. We also have gates up at each door, so even if the door is opened, she cannot dart out. I need to get a collar though for when we start traveling to put those things on. You never know I guess and it's better to be safe than sorry. I'm not sure how she will like a collar, but I'm sure she'll get used to it.

| We also have a 'get me home' and a rabies tag and a name tag with her name and my info on it. I am also planning on getting her microchiped when she gets spayed. I keep all of them on a collar that she only wears when she is anywhere outside of the house...even in our own yard. She knows she has to put it on before she leaves the house. She actually gets super excited when she hears it jingle.... she knows its time to go out. I do leave the collar on when we have company because it does jingle like crazy with 3 tags on it already so it makes it less likely people will step on her. Actually, it has worked great for that! It took her about 3 days to get used to the collar but after she was used to it she now only wears it outside of the house. I know 4 tags is probably overdoing it a bit but you can never be to safe if you ask me.... I also really want a 'fur code' tag too. Like I said, better safe than sorry. |

| One of our members here put the tag on her keys. Once she lost her keys, someone called the number on it and they were able to contact her, and she got her keys back. LOL. I don't really use those microchip tags. If I did, it would be on their collar, where my cell number is on there anyway. If someone were to find them if they got out, they could easily call the number on the tag. The microchip is there in case the collar some how comes off, so they can still be ID'd. Between the name tag and the rabies tag, I didn't want yet another tag on there. Plus the ones we got are ugly.

| I've always been hesitant to use the tag Princess got. If someone intentionally steals her would it keep them from taking her to a vet, thus not getting scanned/found? I don't know what the research is on the tags working and as usual, I'm sure I'm possibly a tad paranoid when it comes to her.

| I have small claw clips for all the girls with their tag that has their name and phone #. It's so easy to take off when I change harnesses. When we travel I keep collars on them with their tags.

| I keep Jackson's rabies tag and microchip tag on my key chain. They are ugly, I don't want them on his collar, LOL. Plus I don't particularly want people to know he's microchipped. IF he ever were to get stolen for some reason, or someone found him and wanted to keep him, they may not take him to the vet if they knew he was microchipped and could be scanned. I've also heard scary stories of people who steal dogs cutting the microchip out themselves... yikes! Edit.... just saw the posts above! Yeah it's an iffy situation! I dunno... I just don't feel it necessary for him to be wearing it.

| Rylee wears his microchip tag. I'm neither here nor there about whether he should wear it or not. I think it's what the rescue intended though. It is in his contract to wear a tag with two phone numbers at all times. Rabies tag should be worn at all times (esp. off of owner property). It's the law here. But I have no room to talk. Ry isn't even registered.

| Chewie always wears a collar and tag with his name and my cell phone number. His other tags (rabies, city license, and microchip) are clipped to his leash, so they're with us whenever we're out. 4 tags on a 10-pound dog seems a little overkill to me!

I'M WITH YOU!! I keep Riley's rabies tag, DC Dog License tag and microchip tag on my key chain. They are all really big, bulky and ugly. I have a very Small round tag with his name and my phone number that I keep on the ring on his harness.....along with his Trupanion pet insurance tag..... that is a really small nice size. | |

| The reason I keep everything on a collar is just in case they were to get away from me. I want all their information on them. If it is on my key chain it will be of no use to them in the event of one of them getting out.

| Yeah, but he wears an information tag at all times - with his name and my cell. So if he were to ever get out, all one would need to do was call my number and I'd be there in a flash. If I change my number, I always make sure to get a new tag, so that's not a problem. I don't see a reason to have a gazillion other tags, just plain and simple for the person who would find him. Just personal preference, but I do understand why one would want ALL on them. But I like them on my keychain because whenever he's out in public, I am with him. So if anyone needed to see proof of rabies or whatever, I could show them.
