| Christmas Decorating This is Lola the Shih Tzu's second Christmas with us, and she was a little anxious when we started moving the Christmas boxes upstairs, but little Lucy and my new foster Yorkiepoo, Polly, were just beside themselves. Lucy paced until I thought she would wear a rut in the floor, and all the girls were afraid to leave my side so that they wouldn't miss anything. I was worried I would trip over someone, or step on them, and I was constantly checking to see that no one accidentally got squashed or locked in the basement or garage. When I gated them off, they barked and cried in unison, like their little hearts were broken. By last night everyone was stressed and exhausted. They were keyed up on Thanksgiving day too! Christmas decorating really turned my house upside down, and I wasn't expecting this at all. I usually love Christmas decorating, but now I dread the rest of the weekend.

| Roxie was insane yesterday while we were putting up the tree. I have never seen her so wired! She wouldn't leave us alone for a second. She brought us every toy in her box and kept begging for attention. We did fall over her a few times during the course of decorating. She just wanted to be in the middle of everything!

| Christmas Decorations, Oh My !!! Gracie has the worst time with any changes and turns into Velcro Yorkie. She sniffs every plastic tub of decorations, with intense suspicion. I think she is fearful that a tub might contain another dog, she has to share me with. Little Abba was happy to pee on as many storage tubs as he could before, I put a belly band on him. Now he does his bouncy dance while giving squeaky little woffs and harmless leg lifts. Rubin just yawns and goes to his crate for another nap, not bothered at all by the mess. As long as Mama, treats and his nappy crate are the same his world is pretty perfect. Our little beastie brat and nosey girl Ginny Joy is beyond excited. She tries to get into the tubs to see what might be fun to chew on or play with. She barks at the stuffed musical animals, nabbed a ceramic Santa off the table and took it to the yard, to bury it. She has played tug of war with a string of lights, and taste tested the cookie scented candle. She grabbed the tree skirt and tried to take it for her new blankie, but of course I wouldn't let her have the sparkly fur trimmed blankie in her crate. So she turned her attention to the 'new to her/ very old to us, Santa pillows on the sofa. Lily the Lab thinks a tree in the house is really weird, and is watching it to see what happens next. One of the plastic storage tubs, from the outside shed, had mouse (maybe some other tiny creature ?) mouse droppings on the lid. She and the Yorkies went crazy. Growling, yipping, pawing at, sniffing attacking that tub. In their doggy way, they were screaming the boggey man is in the house Mama ! I finally told my granddaughter lets take a break and have some hot chocolate, she said "Granny is is 76 degrees ! I want a diet coke!" I looked at her sweaty, dirt streaked, sweet face and smiled. I started to hum deck the halls........... tis the season......

| I'm glad to know I'm in good company then! It makes me wonder what they must be thinking when they see all the activity and boxes emerging. They act the same way when we get out the suitcases. Any changes from their routine seem to upset the apple cart. As Lucy paced you could almost hear her saying "What's Mama doing? Oh dear, what IS she doing? I don't know this box. I've never seen this box. This box smells funny. That box doesn't belong there. I don't smell any treats in this box. Dad moved my chair. I can't get in my chair! My chair doesn't belong there. This is bad. This is really, really bad.". Aww, my poor girls!
