| I'm not sure if they are the same brand but I bought them once and the very first one I gave caused a choking incident that scared me to death. I threw them away then and haven't used them since just because of the choking risk. It seems that not much of anything that comes out of China is any good.

| I just recently was given some raw hide bones for my 2 babies from my mom and I noticed the day after chewing on them, one had the flying runs and the other was throwing up. Some of ya'll know me a little and ya know I had to google this and I found out that raw hides can contain lots of bad poisons if from China, and that even if they don't, if left for awhile wet, they can grow horrible bacteria! Needless to say, they were throwed away, my mom was informed to throw hers away too, and they don't get any raw hides. Now I just gave my babies a pupperoni treat day before and yesterday, and guess what? One has thrown up 2 times and had the flying runs, while the other is lethargic and sneezing. I don't trust any of them now. Going to look into making my own from here on out! Geeze! |

| No one should ever give ANY treats or food made in China to their yorkie, IMO.

| Thanks so much 88! I will look into those! I have normally NEVER gave any of my pets raw hides, but my mom had a couple for her dog and she thought she was doing a good deed. I just rescued Mojo 3 weeks ago, and he had been chewing up the house, lol. I'm on a fixed income ( disability ) and can't afford much for him right now, so she gave me a couple of them. When my older ( 11 years ) doxie saw Mojo with one, she HAD to have one too ( and she has never chewed them as her teeth were in bad shape when I rescued her and several had to be pulled ). She managed to gnaw one, but it is NOT a mistake I will be making anytime again! A neighbor had said something about nylon bones, but I just can't see how that can be much safer. I googled them too and it's possible for the nylon to sliver and stick in their intestines. I'm thinking of a kong that I can fill with home made goodies for them instead, but will sure look into the bully bones! Your right!!! It's so hard to find in the USA on anything!!! I know they can get blockages from those things, I've heard of it happening and I watched them close and made sure to cut off the pieces that they had started trying to pull off, but they also can get wrapped around their gums UNDER their teeth! UGH! I read that today too! YIKES! I got to reading on the pupperoni package and guess who DISTRIBUTES the darn things???? DEL MONTE!! YES, THAT'S RIGHT! The same folks with the bad chicken products!! Pupperoni also has chiken parts in them and I could not find anywhere on the pckage just exactly WHERE they were made, so I'm betting good ole China!!! I will sure look into the bully bones, thanks so much!!!! |

| I know, all the stuff from China scares the CRAP out of me. I never buy those treats. They are tricky too. Like Waggin' Train states "USA" on the front but look at the back and it says "Made in China". Ridiculous! There ARE a few brands of chicken jerky made in the US, but they are hard to find.

| Kona's Chips -- you can get them online. I believe all the Plato dog treats are made in the USA (they have chicken jerky). I've seen Blue Buffalo treats now at Petsmart and I didn't see anything about being made in China on them.

| If you see this symbol on pet food or treats I would think twice about feeding it to my pets. It looks like a harmless, cute little flower. This means the food was irradiated, treated with radiation to kill bacteria and prolong shelf life. Some pets have been sickened and killed eating this food. Australia had a big episode with Orijen cat food that was irradiated. The FDA and other government agencys wholeheartedly endorse this practice claiming it to be safe but studies are saying something else. ….I wonder how hard the FDA will look at the radiation as a possible factor in these products since they are the ones who gave the ok to use it………..This process applies to food from China and in the USA….Another clue as to whether a food is irradiated is they don’t always have an expiration date…… Another Reminder, Do you know what this symbol means?

| Does anyone know if i should also be concerned about chicken jerky from Thailand? i checked one of my bags and sure enough product of Thailand. It's silver spur chicken jerky. it seems really high quality actally. i had been cutting it into small pieces to use as a topper now and again for Brews food. and now irradiated food concerns as well!!! Yikes! i have some dehydrated duck tenders that show the little flower mentioned in the above post. They go on and on on their site about how safe the product is and how high the quality is. Better for You. Better for Your Pet. what gives??? I've been on a great feeding/eating sched with Brew since i have been cutting up pieces of these products (along with some freeze dried beef liver) i have been alternating the different toppers and he's been eating awesome since i started this a few weeks ago. Now i worry i may have been doing him harm in all of this. i thought it was a great compromise for me to be giving high quality "dog" treats rather then table food to entice him to eat his kibble. i've purchased all the treats from a local dog boutique...and they weren't cheap either!!! *sigh sigh* |
