| Drinking water and throwing up. What does this mean? My 6 year old Yorkie has a weird/bad habit of consuming water and then hacking and throwing up a small puddle of water. Does this happen to anyone else? Is he just drinking too fast? He does this almost everytime he drinks a moderate amount of water. Thank you for your input! :-)

| Not sure sounds like reflux. Are you using or have you tried a raised feeder? How long has this been happening if like forever I'd go with reflux its so common and often goes unnoticed. It could also be a nasal issue or symptomatic of CT but you'd see or notice a few more symptoms-if it's not just beard drips though it's a sign something is going on. I use a water bottle ell okay try to use a water bottle for my miniature schnauzer, sometimes she drinks from the boys' bowl, but schnauzers are supposed to drink from bottles because of issues with their double coat beard and year and bacterial infections and beef staining. I'd just be sure to minimize the amount of water at one time if possible & use a raised feeder see if it stops first IMHO Most Yorkies use a 4' mine use a 7' they are taller, see if that alleviates it but to be totally straight forward honest everyone should be using a raised feeder and water bowl for your dog's comfort. Here's a link to the ones I buy because they are so inexpensive and definitely stylish, well made yes I just love these. Seriously though I should get a percentage of sales because I've talked like 20+ ppl into buying one I have 7! Shabby Chic Pet Feeders - The Bella Cottage

| A couple of my dogs do this once on a while. For them, I think a little water "goes down the wrong pipe." |

When Dogs bend over that far to suck water into their mouth with their tongue and inhalation often water goes down the wrong way, too fast or they take in too much air to their tummy too. Raised feeders of the appropriate height stop this. You want their head to be down but neck level or straight up as normal not bent over for both eating and drinking actually. You may see with kibble you dog may take a few out and eat them on the floor it takes a bit of getting used to the change...really hope that's all it is and such and easy fix works! Ironically the Bella Cottage ones are also about the cheapest in price around too. They're made by a women owned business in LA. So they're a local product for you and I.

| Have you had him since a pup!? My old Yorkie did that ALL THE TIME! He was a rescue. when he was in his old home, he never was given water. So my vet said that when he gets it, he consumes too much cuz he is excited to have it. Then his tummy couldnt handle it. So instead of leaving a bowl full of water out for him. I had to give him a little bit constantly throughout the day.
