| Advice needed for harness sizing... Hi all! Sorry to be posting this in general discussion, but there are always more folks in here than anyhere else,LOL. The more advice the better, and sorry to be so needy, but my Penny has never needed a leash. It's like whoever had her before me trained her to be a service dog,LOL. She stays right beside or behind me at all times, never runs off or chases animals, and stops in her tracks if I say wait. She must be the perfect doxie as most have a high prey drive, are stubborn, and like to be top dog, haha! Mojo is a totally different little fellow and he will have to be leashed all his life. I like the buddy belt, but right now it's just way too high for my pocket book. I'm leaning really hard toward one of the puppia step in vests, or the soft one with the adjustable waist, but need help with the sizing. Mojo's measurements are as follows: NECK:9 1/2-10 INCHES CHEST:14 1/2 LENGTH: 12-12 1/2 WEIGHT: 8 1/2 LBS I have read the the step in vest or the B type runs small so am unsure of which size to get. I found a great price on ebay for some and wrote a seller and she said the MEDIUM. I have looked at other auctions and according to a few I should get the large. Never thought I'd have this much trouble trying to size a fur baby, lololol. Any advice on this brand is so appreciated! Thanks so much for helping a WITHOUT A CLUE yorkie mom! |

| Jackson is 16lbs and wears a Medium Puppia on one of the smallest sizes of it. According to sizes I read online, he should have been a large, but a large would NEVER have fit him, way too big lol. He fits in a '5' in the Buddy Belt. I would guess your boy is a small (with the regular Puppia - I don't know anything about the stepins, if they are different, etc). Nala is a 6lb muscular little Yorkie and she wears a Small.

| You should always keep your dog on a leash no matter how obedient they are. Accidents happen. Glad you're looking for a harness for your other dog, but still get one for your obedient dog too! They always have buddy belts on ebay. ChokeFree is another big one. There are tons of threads on harnesses tho, use the search Heres link to puppia sizing: http://puppiavest.com/puppia-vest-dog-harness/

| I had a terrible time trying to figure out the Puppia measurements! It sounds like he would fit great in a small Puppia step in vest harness. That is the size Gracie wears and she is close to your guys measurements. When I was looking to get one for Gracie the published measurements were different every where I looked. The small has worked out great. Just make sure you get the velcro part wrapped very snugly around him before you close the latch on top. I would not leave any harness on a dog when I was not there though. You just don't know what will happen when your not looking. |

| Thanks much! No I never do leave anything on my babies whenever I go anywhere! I have been rescueing for well over 20 years and have seen and heard such horror stories about that. Oh, I do have a leash and harness for Penny when we go somewhere, but I'm out in the country and for the 8 years I've had her, she has never even offered to leave my side, nor would I let her. She is sort of a different case. Then again, I never let my fur friends outside alone either. She is over 11 now and her fav thing to do is ride across the pecan orchard to go see her Grandma! All I have to do is ask her if she wants to go see granny and she waits by the door and steps aside so I can put my shoes on to go. I understand what you mean by accidents though, and I watch them like a hawk. Since disabled, I don't get to go anywhere and they are as much a savior for me as I am to them! I guess you can say our lives revolve around one another. I'm a very protective mom ( my son can sure tell ya that, lol). I am not new to the ways of dogs, just yorkies and all the new trimmings out there for them, hehe. Thanks for the link, I had looked at it, but it was confusing to me as some have said that they run small, others say run large. Just wanted to get a poll from those who use this brand and what they thought of the sizing. Thanks again so much all! |
