| New Member with questions! Hello, I have been a silent reader on yorkietalk for quite sometime and this is my first post.. I finally got my puppy 2 weeks ago! This is my first time having a dog and Ive adored yorkies since im young, Im really happy the day he came home. =D now that he's passed his fear period of moving home and leaving his mummy and friends, im having new problems and i need help! 1.) Isit normal to have to go potty almost once every hour during the day? ( the pee is in very small quantity) 2.) I noticed that sometimes he'll leave 1 spot of pee on the floor all of the sudden(this usually happens when i leave his sight for a moment, for example going to the washroom and when i come out there is this pee on the floor) PS.-( most of the time he has gone potty 5 to 10 mins before it happened.) Anyone has any idea why is this happening? 3.) I peepad trained him and now he will go on his peepad most of the time if he sees it. For example i leave him in an xpen he will pee on the peepad. ( I usually bring him out to play after he has gone potty) he's had no accidents for almost 2 weeks and i decided to extend his area giving him bigger play area then he had an accident on his play area. (Does this mean that i have to make play area smaller and try again after he has no accident?) 4.) when he's not in his xpen, he'll go potty on the pee pad if i leave it in the same room he's in, ( Ive brought him to a friend's house and he uses the pee pad in her house, For that im really proud of him. =D) However when at home, i intend to place the peepad in the toilet in the future but when i place the pee pad in the toilet at home but he wouldnt got into the toilet for the peepad on his own. Although I have been bringing him to the toilet to potty. (How should i go about teaching him that the peepad is in the toilet so that he'll go to the toilet to potty on his own?) Is it adviseable to place his whole play area in the toilet? so that he'll know that the peepad is there? (PS. The toilet is not being used by my family so its relatively clean.) I know this is a wordy post but i'll really appreciate it if anyone could help me with it.. Thank you very much. I'll post photos of Ruffles once i figured how to. =D He's one active boy.. Very hyper and always jumping up and down constantly. |

YT 1000 Club Member | 1) As any Dog ages, their capacity for holding on will increase, be patient. 2) Young Dogs sometimes are afraid of you leaving them alone, and urinate because of his. Again, be patient, this should stop before long. 3) You should increase his area of access slowly. But once given, don't reduce it, just scold appropriately, and return him to the Pad to assure the correct place. 4) You need to place the Pad where you want it, don't move it around, and leave it there where he will remember where it is at.

| Thank You for your reply SWHouston, appreciate it very much. point number 2 has been bothering me alot. It happened again this morning right after he gone potty. he somehow managed to squeeze out 3 small dots of pee on the floor but this time he did it when i turned my back to take something, is he being fearful too? or is it that he wants attention and was seeking it this way, I dunno if i should correct him if this happens!!! If he wants attention am i giving him attention by stoping him? Or should i just stop him anyway?( I usually just say no in an unhappy tone and just bring him back to his peepad.) This onli started 2 days ago, right after i decided not to place him in his xpen and let him go potty as n when he'll like. Ive been watching him like a hawk when's he's in xpen he is going like once every 1 hr to 2 hr when he's in there but when he's out of the xpen he will go every one hour or less, in very small quantity. sometimes on the carpet all of the sudden. Gosh i dunno what to do, should i always correct him? |

| Also, if he's peeing frequently and in tiny amounts, you might want to consider a UTI. Sadie had one when she was little. It was agonizing to watch her - she was in such obvious discomfort - she would pee a tiny amount and then two seconds later pee a tiny amount again. Antibiotics cleared it right up.

| Thank you both for the imputs!I suspected an infection too but he doesnt seem to be in pain at all, he plays well, sleeps well and eats well. It onli happened since 2 days ago and he'll usually do it when i turn my back to take stuff or i go into another room he'll be looking at me then when im back he did it already. Today i caught him doing it because i turned back and looked, he squatted down in the potty position and squeezed out 3 drops. I didnt know what to do should i correct him or should i pretend i didnt see it because it happened within 5 mins after he's gone potty. I tried to correct him and bring him to his peepad and he just willl not go there! I figured that it could because he's just gone potty and really doesn't have anything else to let out? It usually do not happen when im in his sight. When Sadie has UTI, does she always had to have to go potty or its once in a while? Any signs to look out for in UTI? Thank you very much PS. I dun think its excess from his winkle. =p |

| She only had the one UTI and she pretty much was peeing every ten seconds - a few drops at a time.
