| Can someone please tell me if this is normal? I picked up my new yorkie today and I'm a little concerned because of coloring. Can someone please let me know if they have had or seen a yorkie with the coloring around the mouth like this? I never have seen a pure Yorkie with this coloring. I could be worried about nothing, but I want to make sure. On his CKC papers it says he's pure yorkie. Forgive my pics. I was trying to take them with my phone and my little booger would NOT stay still! The one with the orange around him is a pic she sent me and thats what he looked like last week.

| I took pictures of her pictures. Im not sure why my computer isn't letting me resize hers. I could only get the pic from about 3 weeks ago or so to load.

| Thank you both so much! I was just worried because when I left there, I found out she also had yorkie-poos.

| I agree, he is adorable. I'm not an expert, but his mouth area could very well turn gold when he matures. Max's head is still changing colors at close to 3 years of age.

| Well, if you have any doubts as to his parentage...you can always dna him. I'm assuming you visited the Breeder beforehand and were able to see the Dam & Sire...? If so, you should have an idea as to his future adult coloring. If not, then what you see now in coloring will more than likely be something different later on. How old is he and how much does he weigh...he's absolutely adorable!

| I hadn't been down to visit, this was a 7 hour trip for us today. My husband works overnights and my poor honey drove me all the way down there and back and only got a couple hours sleep today before work. She was sending me pics weekly and I have 66 emails from me and her back and forth. The mom and dad were shaved down and looked light colored. She said when moms coat grows out it's dark/black. I got my baby some royal canine and got the nutracal on hand. Always have that on hand in case of an emergency. Never needed it, but would rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I need to go to the Vet tomorrow to get an exact weight and check up, but my husband doesn't think he's quite a pound. I did see the yorkie-poos before leaving. They were all black and were bigger. When I first started talking to her she had 5 puppies from this litter and I got the last one today. But I just wanted to make sure. I was actually hoping his coloring was a sign that he would be looking something like yours miabellaamoure. My Carly is traditional colored and I would love to have one that looked like yours as well.

| I've never DNA'd before, what does that entail and how much does it cost?

| I have never dna'd any of my dogs but, here is a link to one of many sites available: Canine Breed Tests You might want to ask about these tests in the breeders section, too. Bella was my only Yorkie I raised as a puppy. She was black and gold like most puppies and ended up retaining zero of that coloring. Abby came to me as a rescue and was already in her adult coat. Phoebe also came to me but, as a breeder rescue and she is as close to her puppy coat per her breeder. Her coloring is my favorite as well.

| You can dna him through either AKC or if you have a petco close by. It's a simple procedure where they will give you a swab for the inside of his mouth then mail it in. |

| CKC or CKC? When you say CKC is it Continental Kennel Club or Canadian Kennel Club? If he is Continental, then yes he could have a parent, grandparent, or great grandparent that wasn't a yorkie or that was a yorkie mix. See a lot of these "CKC" registered dogs in the states and pet stores. If he is Canadian, then he is purebred. He looks like a yorkie to me! Super cute for sure! You will love him no matter what right? |
