| What does your pup do if you're gone a lot? Since starting work I work, come home & nap, wake up pick up dd from volleyball or go to a game, go to appts., etc, etc, etc! I feel like I so rarely sit on the couch & watch t.v. or do anything relaxing except when I jump on the pc for a minute. I'd like to give Princess something to do as I feel sooo guilty! It wont last forever, I just have to adjust so I can be awake more & so on. Once vball's done there will be hockey games 1-3 times a week, though that's in the evening so I don't feel so guilty since she can realistically sleep then. What can I give Princess to do? She can't have bully sticks, etc. Is there a chew toy that actually keeps a dogs attention? Would a Hide-A-Squirrel or something like that work if I'm not there? I'm stressing & I know she can tell, thus further stressing her! Ideas, please! ETA: I'd rather avoid doggie daycare for both trust & financial reasons. Plus with working at 5a.m. nothing's even open.

YT Addict | I got Riley because I felt so guilty leaving Abby when I went to work Now I just feel guilty about leaving the both of them. lol I also looked into doggie camp when I just had Abby. It is more expensive than child care and all the "small" dogs were 5 times the size of Abby. Maybe you can take her with you to some of the evening events. That would ease your mind and give her some excitment. |

| Awww, poor Princess. I know what you mean about feeling guilty. Luckily my schedule is lax right now but I've had time periods where he is left alone more often, or not exercised enough, and I'll feel terribly guilty. It doesn't happen often now but I know in the future it will.... I plan on doing doggy daycare probably in the future as there are so many options around here... But as for things to do... what about a Kong? You can stuff canned food in it, freeze it, and it keeps Jackson entertained for a while. When he was on the RX food, I would put the kibble in it and the canned food to 'seal' it and he enjoyed that. I still do this with his new food. When it's frozen, it lasts a while. I like to keep two or three of them in the freezer for quick access. Jackson won't mess with anything while I'm gone though usually. Even if I leave 100 bully sticks out, he wouldn't have touched them, lol. He just won't chew/play with things while I am gone and has always been that way.

| I do not work outside of the house but I am a soccer Mom and it seems like I am always on the go and I to was feeling guilty about leaving my fur babies at home so I just decided one day that where ever I go, they go. Mom and Dads , soccer games, volley ball games, my sisters. I think sometimes the family looks at me like I am nuts but hey,,,,those are my babies if they are not welcome in my families homes then neither am I.

| Mine both sleep while we're gone. Sometimes we'll leave squeaky toys with them, but they don't even look touched half the time. I wouldn't give large chew treats while you're not there to supervise her. God forbid she'd choke on a piece.

YT 1000 Club Member | I don't leave the house too much now a days, and usually I take both mine with me. This summer being the exception, given how hot it is. Then, it's usually for an hour or less. I'm sure they sleep, but, they have toys, and the complete run of the house and back yard. I have a Doggy Door, and a very large secure outside area. When leaving and coming back, both go to the upstairs window, look out and I can see them barking, as they view me. I hate to leave them behind, but, at these tempratures... no way.

| My dh said mine sleep all the time I'm gone. As soon as I leave for work they both curl up on the couch and mostly stay there until I return. When we are both gone I believe they sleep because all the pillows and throws on the couch are arranged to make things more comfortable for them.

| I'm a single mom. I work fulltime, in school for my Master's and am always on the go. My daughter is in extra curricular activities and there are times when Troy can't go to certain places with us. But if I have the opportunity to take him, he goes right along. Troy is fairly small and isn't yappy. He goes in his bag, takes a nap and noone ever notices I have a dog. During the work Day (7:30-4:30ish) Troy is in his secured area in our house. He sleeps mostly and my neighbors tell me he sometimes peeks out the window when there's lots going on outside. He has food, water, toys, etc at his disposal to keep him entertained. I can understand that you are wiped out and there's that rare moment of "me" time.

I did do the Doggie day care resort thing. Not sure if I like it or not. Jack has been having allergies and I am thinking it may be coming from the daycare. They only go 2- days a week and it seems his sneezing/scratching is always worse when he comes home from there. I mainly did it for them to be able to socialize with other dogs. If I discontinue the daycare, my next thing will be the webcam. On the days they are at home, I leave a TV on in one room and a radio on in the other so it want be too quiet. | ||
