| Can pulling on toy damage trachea? Can playing tug of war or pulling on a toy damage the trachea? Just something that has always nagged at me.

| I don't think you need to worry about tug-o-war damaging the trachea.

| I would be more concerned about the teeth, because their teeth are so fragile. My boy is an agility dog and LOVES tug. I've made it my goal to make him really soft fleece rope tugs that are gentle, and I assure that it's always me and "daddy" playing tug... cause it appears like I'm playing rough with him (he spins, jumps, flips, hangs from the tug *with his paws), but really I'm not pulling I'm just following him around and letting him pull. I've never heard of anything like that damaging the trachea, I was under the impression that more of a pressure (like from a collar) would cause damage.

Pressure to the trachea can cause damage, and anything that irritates the throat.

| She pulls and plays so very hard that I was just wondering. Glad to hear that it doesn't hurt her. Thanks.

YT 1000 Club Member | I certainly agree, that TOW doesn't hurt them, but... I've done that with both of mine, and My Female Becca will hang on to the Toy and I pick her up off of the floor frequently, with her dangling and she will NOT let go of the Toy. HA, she's got a Head Whip, that could sprain your wrist !! I, as well as the Vet have done Dental inspections on both, and "we" have never noticed any looseness of any of their teeth. Could this "fragility" be an issue singular to your/some Yorkies ?

| Thanks for asking this question. My 2 boys were playing tug of War yesterday, Hobbes is 15 lbs and Calvin 9 lbs, and Calvin would not give up. I thought Hobbes was going to pull his head off, but of course Calvin finally gave in and let big brother win.
