| What made you choose your Yorkies name? Good evening everyone! Was wondering today - what made you all choose the names that you have for your little babies? For instance - I'm Sally - and Harry's Harry (!!) - it wasn't 'til after a month or so that I even thought about the film!!! (Andy named him, but after his favourite football manager!). And then one day, when Harry was about 4 months old, he learnt to open and escape from his crate - and I realised about the 'Houdini' bit which was quite spooky! So, we kind of fell into this very apt name, but would love to hear your stories?! Sally + Harry x |

| Dixie is dixie because we live on a farm and are born and bred country. I thought that dixie was a good country name. Also, my boyfriend is a huge dukes of hazzard fan and Daisy Duke's jeep was named Dixie so I thought that a duke's name would soften the blow of me bringing her home without him knowing (we already had a Daisy and a Duke in the past so I went with Dixie) |

| I always liked the name Cricket for a small dog. It seemed to fit Cricket when I got her too. She was small, mostly black and chirped. When we got Gidget, she came w the name Lisa from her breeder. Breeder said they adapt well to name changes, especially when young. Husband wanted to name her Cricket (deu). I said no way. There was only one Cricket. So we compromised and named Lisa "Gidget" bc it rhymed w Cricket. She seems to really like her name. She started responding to it right away.

| Allie and Noah are named after the main characters in the Notebook. Westley is named after one of the main characters in the Princess Bride. One day I will have another girl and name her Buttercup.

| Cozy is shortened from Cozette from Les Miserables. Roxy was originally Candy but changed to Rock Candy and then shortened to Roxy. Zoey was Cozy's name prior to me getting her- the name just did not fit Cozy. Lucy was named after I love Lucy because all the other dogs could not stop kissing her and she is forever getting into trouble and then looks at you like "I don't know how it happened" Mika means wise little raccoon and Tallulah means leaping water. Both Maine coon cats. Tallulah was found with her litter mates in a boat and Mika used to throw food into her water bowl and fish it out as a kitten. Lucky my golden had a near death experience at the breeders when he was only a few days old.

| I've always liked the name Ian and Prince is my first yorkie's name (RIP), so we decided to name him Ian Prince, in rememberance of our beloved Prince.

| Princess is Princess since I knew she'd be one! I knew she'd be royalty in our family & I had also already picked that name for a future pet, not knowing if it'd be a dog, bird, fish... I have my heart set on naming future pets after my fave characters from Harry Potter. Nerdy, I know, but I just can't help myself.

| I have always been interested in the England Royals. I have read just about every book from as far back as King Henry VIII. So my little girl was named Lady Windsor. Windsor being the last name of the royal family. Yes, she is now related to Prince William and Kate. However, I call her Winnie, but Windsor when she is in trouble. hehe |

| Prince was a birthday present for my daughter at the time, so she named him (he later became very attached to me and was my velcro baby right up until he went to the Bridge) Pixie, I saw the name and just fell in love with it and vowed if I ever had a female her name would be Pixie Theo, Prince and Pixie had a little of 3 boys and my daughter named then Alvin, Simon and Theodore (it was either that or huey, dewey and louie) and when Prince passed away the lady (she is a very close friend of mine) who had bought Theo 2 weeks before Prince died, brought him over for me to babysit, when I went to get him out of his kennel there was a note saying she thought I needed him more than she did and therefor she would not be back to pick him up. He had not been registered yet so I was trying to think of a registered name for him and someone came up with "Prince's Special T" call name Theo. It was a nice tribute to Prince. Romeo, he was born Valentines Day, so he needed a valentiny type name. It could not have been more accurate, he was such a lover boy. Nya, her name was NY NY by her original owners and I just could not imagine standing outside calling NY NY, being that she was older I did not want a drastic change so I just started calling her Nya and she responded to it. We were told she was 8 when she came into rescue, however after living with her for the past 3 1/2 months we think she is either a very very old 8 or she is more like 10-12, we are convinced of the later. I think maybe the old owner said 8 because he thought it would be easier to get her into rescue if he said she was younger..... Anyhow that is how my babies got their names, sorry for the novel.....

| I love all the stories! I decided the name Bailey because I was writing down names I liked and it was between: Bailey, Bella, Princess(not really, but kinda), and London. I thought Bella was such a girly girl name and she was going to be my little baby that ibwould dress up and do her hair... But then I held her and I was like, "this is no Bella, this is Bailey." she just looked like a Bailey. It's funny because Bailey is kinda a Tom boyish name and Bailey is FAR from a tomboy. |

| Well, we first thought of the name Jackson after the Johnny Cash song "Jackson". My mom suggested it because we always had that song stuck in our heads after watching the Walk the Line movie. It just stuck. Plus I'm a MJ/Jackson 5 fan and all so it was appropriate. I am such a name freak... like I have a list of dog names and baby names and I am not even thinking about a second yet let alone a child, LoL!! I have a few but I like to have significance to a name in some way. And I like them to be somewhat unique but not too weird!!
