| New to the forum I have a 8 month old female yorkie, named Madi, she's quite a handful and very hyper, but very lovable. Her nickname is "Mad Madi", LOL. Very spoiled, am sure that's my fault. I'm taking her to be spayed this Friday. If there's any tips on post surgery care, please reply, for this is the first female dog I have ever owned and want her to be in good health. |

| Welcome to YT. The best advice I can give is make sure you have pre op blood work done. I have three females and the smallest is only 1.12Lbs, and they all did great. I waited till they were about 8 months old because of there size, but they all did great the little one even had twelve teeth pulled. Just make sure you get pain meds and maybe an antibiotic just incase. She should be back to normal in a few days. Good luck. |

| Get a baby onesie! Nala kept getting out of the blow up collar and the onesie kept her from biting out her stitches. |

| Good luck with your baby's spay. Sending good thoughts and prayers for a quiet and successful spay. I offer the Kiss-E Cone collars is you are interested. They are soft collars for our little babies.

| When Gracie was spayed they asked me if I wanted one of those plastic cone collars to keep her from bothering the incision. I told them NO. She came home the same day of the surgery and slept most of the day. She was also quite inactive the second day. She lightly licked the incision a few times but nothing that was not normal for a dog with a wound. I stayed with her the whole time. I greatly dislike those plastic cones and would advise anyone against using them. The onesie is a good idea. They also sell soft post surgical collars that do not stress the neck of the dog. I'm sure your little one will do fine. Let us know how she is after her surgery. |

| When Bandit got his surgery he milked it for over 2 days. Nala was fine by 9pm that night!! THe vet said we should still give her the pain meds just in case and it would help keep her a bit calmer lol. The playpen is also a good idea |

| I don't know what "pain meds" other vets are sending home with their patients but I looked up the name of the medication my vet gave to Gracie. It was an anti inflammatory like ibuprofen (advil). I gave it to her the second day after her surgery but not after that. It is very irritating to the stomach and she was not eating much. I did not want to hurt her belly by giving it to her on an empty stomach. |

| Welcome to YT! I was going to suggest you get one of these also. It was so nice after Gwenni's spay.
