| Excited & Sad Hi Everyone, So my boyfriend and I are going to Italy for 12 days. I am super excited because neither of us have ever been! We have always done tropical vacations so this will be our first Eurotrip! While very excited about my trip...I am so so sad about leaving Teddy I have so much anxiety about leaving my little munchkin butt. He is staying with my parents. I know he is in good hands! My parents got their first yorkie 8 years ago and currently have two yorkies both a little over a year old. Teddy has met them once as a puppy and got along well with them. My concern is that they are bigger than Teddy. Do you think he will be ok? Max is a teapot 11lbs and Molly is about 6 lbs and fiesty. My little Teddy man is a whooping 3.7 lbs but can hold his own. My mom told me she will be very over protective of Teddy (and I know she will) but I am still so nervous! I know she will spoil him but I am scared he will think we abondoned him Any suggestions or advice to help ease my nerves would be very appreciative! Thanks! Nichole

| I just want to add that we are leaving next week. Is there anything I can do this week to prepare him for us leaving? I know I am probably overeacting...I just love my little bean so so very much! I would never want him to feel like we left him!

| You are not overreacting at all. I have the same problem with leaving my baby. We are both blessed with trustworthy family who can take care of our little ones. If I have to use a service, I would never leave home or just travel domestically with my baby in tow everywhere I go. Just call him often and let him hear your voice. I was told my Mocha always licks the phone when he hears my voice but he doesn't do that for anyone else. If you have Skype, then connect and let him see you on the computer screen. Skype is free but that depends on how computer savvy your parents are. Good luck and have fun in Italy. Don't get too worried that you can't enjoy yourself. Like I said, you are lucky to leave him with your parents. He's in good hands. |

| Hi there, I wouldn't worry about little Teddy, although I know it's hard not to do. Sounds like he is in the best of hands! You are very fortunate to have such a loving home to leave him while you are gone. Lots of people would love to be in your shoes, as sometimes we have to leave them in kennels and with people we don't know. I have left mine for 10 days several times, and they are so excited to see me when I get home. I don't believe they ever think I have abandoned them. Granted they don't understand, but it's all good when I get home. I honestly think we miss them way more than they miss us. lol The babysitter says that once I am gone, they take right to him and are glad to see him when he comes by to check on them. You might leave some of his toys and a blanket and his bed to help him feel more at home while you are gone. Also you might leave a shirt or something of yours so he can smell your scent on it. When I go on vacation, I put a picture of them on my cell phone so I can look at it when I'm gone. So my vote is to go to Italy and have a wonderful time and don't worry about your little one. He will be fine, and just think of the happy reunion you will have when you get back. And if it makes you feel better, call home a couple of times to make sure everything is okay. Have a good time! And be sure and tell us about your trip when you get back!!

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Have a safe trip!!! I can understand your fears, I'd be right where you are worrying away like heck! At least its your mom and you know she will watch him like a hawk. But ya I'd still be a worry wart too. I trust no one with my babies LOL. |

| Believe me, I understand, it's sooo hard to leave them! The longest I've left Jackson, I think, was 6 days and I'm always SO ready to see him again. I don't like being away from him lol. But I, too, have wonderful parents/step-parents who are great to him and have always been able to watch him for me thus far when I go away and I know he has the time of his life. We can't help but worry but it sounds like Teddy is in GREAT hands!!! And have an amazing time! My friend is in Italy right now studying abroad and she is LOVING it!

| Thank you all for your sweet reassuring comments. I know my parents would never let anything happen to him and that Teddy is in great hands! My mom took several days off of work so she can spend extra time with him and get him acclimated. She also works close to home and comes home every day for an hour to take care of the pups. I know Teddy will be spoiled but I just hate leaving him! The longest we have left him is 4 days, so 12 will be a big difference. We have actually decided to spend a night at my parents with him before we leave so he adjusts a little with us being there. I'll make sure to bring his bed, toys and a clothing item (or 2!) that smells like us! With that said, I am very excited to go to Italy next week!! When a vacation is close to being over I feel like I never want to leave. But at least I will have TONS of yorkie kisses to look forward to!

| I agree, don't worry so much that you won't be able to have any fun! Maybe during this week you can bring Teddy over to your parent's for some playtime so he can get used to the house. I think I understood that he hasn't met their dogs since they were puppies? It might be a good idea to get them reacquainted. Have fun! I wish I could go to Italy!

| Teddy is going to his Grand-dog-parents...? Don't ya know...that's where all the spoiling rotten happens...don't worry, he'll be in all his glory, I'm sure! Take his familiar things with him like bed, food/water bowls, toys, treats, food (of course...lol) and like someone else suggested something you have worn so, he has your scent with him. Have fun in Italy...

| Have a great trip... Teddy will be fine. I managed somehow to leave my little guy with my bf's mom (who thankfully is a nurse) despite his getting sick and being released from emerge the day before we left and he need 5 medications daily... I felt good knowing she'd probably give his meds better than I would, and despite the hurricane messing it up, our vacation was worry-less. If it helps write up a little info guide with all his favorite things and all his special care instructions... I did this to make myself feel better, I'm pretty sure she never looked at it, and she knew how to care for dogs, but writing it all down so that it was there in case it was needed, made me feel better. Also I would wear an old shirt for a few evenings and leave that with him, so that he has your scent. One night Gail let Harley sleep in our room with our suitcases, and he slept in a pile of our dirty clothes, so he could be close to us. She said it made him happy.
