| is it fair? Is it fair if I let Miso sleep in bed with me but not Kimchi? Miso is younger, smaller and a cuddler. He always wants to be held, pet, cuddled, 24/7. Such a mommas boy. Kimchi loves to run around, he is my wild child! Even when he is calm he would rather lay beside me and not on me. I have tried to let Kimchi sleep in the bed with me but he is all over the place, by my feet, by my head, attacking the blankets, running around. Even after he is tired, he is constantly moving. Miso just lays still. Is it fair if I let Miso sleep on the bed and not Kimchi? I dont want to cause any hard feelings with my babies, or have Kimchi take it out on Miso, since he is the older one!

| I can't speak to the fairness but I don't think I could let one and not the other. I don't know how old your Kimchi is but he may outgrow his playfullness at bedtime and settle down eventually. Sophie plays for a few minutes and then cuddles up and goes to sleep .

| Fairness is less important than how your doggies will perceive the situation. There is a good chance that this will cause problems. Try wearing out Kimchi before bedtime with a walk or playtime.

| One of my dogs sleeps with me and the other doesn't. Not a problem here. But if we reversed it and the other pup slept with me instead..it wouldn't work.

| I know this will get me in trouble to say this, but going to anyway. It does not always have to be about what the doggie wants. You needs should be equal, if not more important, than the doggies. You need a good nights sleep. The pack leader always picks the best sleeping place and lets some sleep close and others not so close. True it would be easier if both dogs were on the bed or off the bed. I think it is ok to let one sleep with you. 5 pound Gracie sleeps with me. The other dogs do not. Yorkie Puppies sleep in crates. 6 pound Rubin, sleeps where ever he wants, which is usually in his own bed. 70 + pound Lily, our Lab sleeps on the floor by the bed. We don't have any problems over this. My dogs are all fed in their crates at the same time. They still have their own place in the pack they have worked out for themselves. Good Luck |

| It might not be an issue. If this is the way kimchi and miso have always slept, this is their normal day to day. It would be different if kimchi had been sleeping at your side for years, and then miso (a new puppy) took his spot and kimchi is mow on the floor. That would definitely be unfair. It's your call. If kimchi isn't whining to join you, keep things the way they are. If kimchi wants up too, do what you can to help him settle down at night.

| Forgot to hit he "quote" button again. i meant to quote teresa ford. Why do you always say your going to be unpopular because of your opinion. Your entitled to yours just as much as I'm entitled to mine. Did someone say something mean to you? I might not agree with you, you might not agree with me either. But we can still learn from each other. That's what I like about this forum. Different view points, different life experiences, and different levels of canine experience. There's always something to learn.

To the OP, i think they could see it as favouritism. maybe you could try it out and see how both react. if you have puppy stairs then this would allow both the option of where to sleep, this way they pick and cant be mad at eachother or mommy

| Often times we as humans displace our feelings onto our pets when they in reality don't function on our terms. Has he displayed any behaviors that have made you ponder this? If he is not acting up then you're probably more worried about this than he is. One of my charge nurses has a yorkie that insists on sleeping with her and one who prefers to sleep on the floor. |

| My little girl is quite a busy body and is not always ready for bed when I am. Even if she has settled in she may hear a cat making a noise in another part of the house and have to go check it out. She is not big enough to get up and down off the bed herself so I bought some pet steps so she can come and go as she pleases. She is housebroken so I don't have to worry about accidents and I also don't have to worry about putting her up and down off the bed half the night. If your guy can be trusted maybe pet steps would be a solution. |

| Well, it is a bit of a problem with Lucy and Ringo. Problem - Ringo was here first and has always slept with my son. Lucy sleeps with me and I think Ringo has his nose out of joint. The top dog (he's definitely the alpha or however you want to phrase it) should have the best sleeping spot. So YOU BET he doesn't like it. But my son doesn't like it if Ringo doesn't sleep with HIM and I can't stand sleeping with both ~ but sometimes I do anyway. I try to make it up to Ringo in other ways. I guess willl be sleeping with both when Matt goes to college!

| Thank you for all the advice! I did a "trial" last night since my husband was working and had both the pups on the bed. Kimchi (the oldest) did the same as usual moved around for about 30 minutes and finally got comfortable at the end of the bed at my feet, but he was very restless. Miso passed at right were I laid him next to me. After awhile I put both the pups back in bed. Kimchi wasn't sleeping and it seemed like he was just staying for my benefit since I set him there. We have brought one puppy in at a time before, and they didnt seem to be "Jealous" but they get anxious when the other puppy isn't near. The stairs are a great Idea! I havent seen them at our PX and I dont even know where to go looking for them in Korea, so I will check online, and if nothing, we will try that once we are state side!! There really is not much rivalry between the two. We only got Miso about a month after we had Kimchi when Kimchi was a puppy so im not sure he even remembers life before him. They dont try and dominate each other and they are the best snuggle buddies! Thank you all for the great advice and tips!!
