| Yorkie color changes My Graysee, a large (10.5 lb.) Yorkie, has begun to show color changes of the hair in the middle of her back! Only about a two-inch long area has begun to turn a dark reddish-brown, rather than the blue/black of the surrounding areas. Has anyone ever seen this before? Although I have papers attesting to the breed of her parents, I'm fairly certain that she doesn't have 100% pure Yorkshire Terrier ancestry, due to her size and features; I think there had to be a Silky in the mix, somewhere! |

| Can't answer your question but my 5.5 lb. Yorkie is doing this also. She is a little over 2 years old and right in the middle of her back there is about a nickle size spot that is jet black. The rest of her fur on her back is kind of silvery/black. This spot just happened right after I groomed her a couple of weeks ago.

| My yorkie is turning all white. She had black tips when i got her going from tip of hair to root was black, red, then white. After I cut off the red tips she looks like she is going to be all white. She has no silver in her at all. Can anybody explain this? Her is is also silky as can be. As far as your question i have seen yorkies change in color afer they are a pup. I was told this is normal. My friend has one that looked like a normal yorkie and was a argentina import and now she is blue (silver) and black |

| My yorkie is turning all white. WOW!!!! I guess I can't complain too much about a small area of red hair. ALL WHITE; that's the first time I've heard of this. I've seen some pretty light blond Yorkies, but never an all white one. Did your friend know the breeder(s) in Argentina? Did he have papers? Last edited by Chas W; 08-27-2011 at 09:34 PM. |

| Bailey has a reddish color on her shoulders mixing with the black. She also has light tan mixed on the middle of her back extending a bit down it. Quote:

Color anomalies do happen in pure bred yorkies, especially having colors mixed where they should not be. They should just be spayed/neutered and loved! Very far off-standard color differences (like an all white) are often the result of non-pure bred dogs being in the ancestry somewhere -- maybe not even from the breeder a person got their dog from but further back in the line.

| My Mentor has always said that breeding a Yorkie is very challenging. You cant predict Color or Size. This has nothing to do with being purebred. Last edited by manolos mom; 08-28-2011 at 03:59 AM. |
