| Hurricane Irene I'm starting to get pretty nervous about Hurricane Irene. At this point it is being predicted that we will get hit Sunday with winds over 100 mph and several inches of rain. I'm doing all I can to prepare...strapping down lawn furniture and making sure all of my flashlights and radios have batteries. I have Roxie's carrier and supplies ready should we need to evacuate (though we are inland, so I don't think we will need to). I am just worried about Roxie. She only potties outside, and I don't know how I will take her out to potty if we're being hit with a hurricane. She doesn't use potty pads at all. Any suggestions?

| I Hear You . . . Our Bella ONLY potties outside. She hates to be wet. We are in NY midway between Rochester and Buffalo on the shore of Lake Ontario. Didn't know we were getting severe weather on Sunday. Thanks for the update. We usually just carry her out under an umbrella and set her down under our biggest tree. If it's really heavy rain we just have to wait til a break. She doesn't like rain so she seems to hold it until we take her out. Once she sees it's raining she doesn't ask to go out. No real words of wisdom. We always thought maybe the garage would work since it's not the house. Good luck, and I hope all is well with you on Sunday. Keep us updated. |

| Do you have a garage? maybe she will go just outside the garage- that is what we did when I was potty training Sophie Kate. Does your dog know a command like "go potty" or "make" for when you want her to go? I do not regret training her for potty pads and outside, it is times just like what you are talking about when it is handy. Good luck, be safe and I will keep you all in my prayers.

| I am worried about the same issue. Jackson refuses to pee anywhere else. I've tried the garage and the porch before -- it never works out. The only time he would go on the porch was when we were buried in 4ft of snow and the porch ended up with almost a foot on it too so it was basically like going outside for him, lol. During the past few storms, where it rained hard and lightening for a while, he just held it. He's good holding it for 10 hours if he has to. So I just try to watch the weather and make sure I get him outside before it gets too bad so he gets his "last pee/poop" in.

| I'm worried about it to I actually wanted to get Callie a rain coat for rainy days to see if it would help but my family kinda laughed at me and said they dont think it would work. She gets so scared when it storms she pretty much wont even think about going out anyway. She can hold it longer then me and every one says I can hold it forever lol. I have tried to use pee pads but she wont use them even the ones supposed to smell like grass and honestly I think she might pee way to much for them.

YT Addict | I have been through a few hurricanes. If you can get a seditive for your pets it will help. Ask your vet. Also do not let your dog out without checking first for downed power lines and other debris. This is a large storm and if it were coming to S.Florida I would evacuate. I would not go thru another cat 3 or more. Bring outside stuff in as tie downs may not hold unless really strong. Be safe and god bless. |

| Having gone thru many hurricanes, best wishes to you and hope it is not bad. As for the pottying, if the dog needs to go bad enough, they will go. Inside or out..lol. Plan to let her out during the eye if it passes close enough to give you a lull in the wind/rain or between rain bands even if they are spread out some. Good luck riding this one out. |

| .DH is beginning to secure things on the deck and in the yard. I don't know what I'm going to do about Bubba and Sissy. Bubba is terrified of thunder and lightening. Hope and pray it turns out to sea.

| Tibbe will only go outside though he did have a potty accident when he got really exicted a while back - first time in 2 1/2 years. But when it is pouring rain and thundering and storming and he hates to go out at first, eventually he will, though I have long tried to get him to go on potty pads in the house. If it were a hurricane outside, of course, I wouldn't even open the door so he would be miserable for a long time. He just will not go in the house if he has any option. Maybe you can get her really full of food and water and get her excited and she will go before she gets too uncomfortable. Otherwise, you are just going to have to hope she will go inside eventually. Maybe call the vet and see what he/she advises. I sure hope this thing will miss you all.

| can you get a piece of grass somewhere? you can put it somewhere in the garage for example , but some box under it so the dirt doesn't go everywhere then she could potty there

| I am worried too! There is no way I'm taking my boys out in 100mph winds... my Dexter is under 6lbs!!! I guess it will be a free reign pee in the house day if it has to be. I'll put down paper and potty pads and see what happens.

| those green potty patches work pretty well for ours. we got ours at walgreens for like $25.00 and use it outside on the covered patio when it's storming. |
