Donating YT 4000 Club Member | My loud mouths may have kept my car from getting broken in to... Last night around 1 my brittany mix, Zoe started with a really low growl in the kitchen. She sounded mad. I didn't think much about it until Rhett jumped off my bed and ran in to the kitchen and started barking like mad. By that point, all 4 were barking and going to town. I threw on the every light between my bedroom and the kitchen, but by the time I got there I didn't see anything outside. This morning I found out that 5 of my neighbors had their cars broken in to in their driveways with things like GPS systems, golf clubs etc being stolen. My next door neighbor was one of the victims. Maybe my loud mouths scared them off before they hit my car that was parked outside, too. Good dogs.

| Thank God for your little loud mouths!! They probably thought you had some pitbulls in the house! Haha. Seriously, I'm so glad they scared them away from your house. I'm sorry your neighbors were not as lucky.

| I hate when my 2-loud mouths go off in the middle of the night. It scares the snit out of me since I am home alone and I know they hear something most of the time I don't hear. I do look out to see if I can see something, if I can't it really spooks me. Cause I want to know what they hear that I can't see. I have motion lights all around my house and they stay dim unless the motion sets them off, then bright. But beyond that I can't see. No street lights or nothing to my left. Kinda country that way. I live on 2-acres and I am right in the center. I think sometimes they can hear or scense other animals outside that may be in my yard. I have had a cat come and camp out on my car. I had an armidilla for a couple of weeks that was digging major holes. Haven't seen him in about a week since I seen the dead one on the road the other morning. I don't miss him either. Other than those I really had no real bad troubles (thank God). I do have an alarm system. I am just not sure what I would do if it went off in the middle of the night. |

| Glad to hear your yorkie alarm system kept you and and yours safe! We have a fugitive who has been armed and dangerous running loose around here for the past week. The police tried to serve him w a warrant and he gave a fight and bolted in the next town over. We do have some comfort in how good Gidget's ears are!

DH is going to install motion lights on the garage tomorrow if the rain holds off. We had some decorative stuff stolen off our front porch last year and the neighbor on the corner had her house broken in to the same night. What sucks is that I live in a supposedly "nice" neighborhood, but we've had some really bad stuff going on in the last 6 months.

| It's great to have loud mouths sometimes, isn't it? Mine don't let anything happen near our house without letting us know. I'm glad to hear that your car wasn't broken into... Too bad for your neighbors though

| My baby loves people and never barks when people come to the door. She just wags her little butt as fast as it will go. However, sometimes at night I have the fan going in the window right next to the bed. A couple of times she has gotten up and started sniffing the air in front of the fan and growling. We live in a forested area. I know she would not growl if she smelled a person. She would welcome that. I just hope it's not bigfoot out there! It's the only time I have ever heard her growl. One night she started barking too and it really freaked me out. We got up and went and looked out on the patio but didn't see anything. It took me quite a while to calm her down. Too freaky for me! They hear and smell things that we don't. |

| Gracie barks at every noise so mostly I ignor her barking. When Lily DH's lab barks, I check it out. So I was skeptical when my mother told me Gracie knew when she needed her shot. I paid attention the next few days and it was true ! When my mother stays with us and her sugar is high (she is a diabetic) Gracie begins licking her foot then pacing and whining. I was reminded of this when I read your story. Some times they know things we don't ! |

Times are getting hard and more people are out of work. Might get worse before getting better. We have had our truck broken into 3 times. The dh doesn't even bother to lock the doors anymore. We discovered it was the drug user on the next block. The outside spot lights just helped her to see what she was doing. We also live in a nice neighborhood.

| I have heard it said again and again, that criminals avoid houses with dogs. The barking brings attention to them that they obviously don't want. And this is something the little dogs are especially good at. I know someone with a business that rents guard dogs out. The renters get a big dog or two, properly and fully trained as perimeter guards, and a little dog. The little dogs' job is to alert the big dogs, lol. |
