| Just venting - no response necessary I am amazed to read some of these posts where little ones have been hit by cars, staggered for no good reason as if there was a good reason for staggering and other abnormal events and the poster asks "what do you think I should do?" Where are these people's brains? They don't deserve to have the opportunity to own an animal. It really upsets me when going to the vet doesn't enter their minds. Cherie

| Welcome to the club- it is shocking at the lack of compassion some people seem to have for their animals. sickening.

| I don't understand the threads where people's reaction to any injury/problem, isn't to go to the vet first, but to seek help on here. I do however appreciate that many vets, especially the younger ones, may have only seen a few hundred or so Yorkies in their practice, and so coming to a community with over 60,000 yorkie owners, they might find additional support/information here from experienced owners the world over.

| Well, sometimes it does help to come here and get things off your chest like nervousness and worry. But, an internet forum is NEVER a substitute for a vet; I agree.

| I would take mine to the vet if there was a problem before I could sit down and start a thread on YT, especially if I was upset. YT has a lot of wonderful people with great advice but if it is serious people need to go to the vet asap.

I agree it is great to come here for advice but I also agree there is no substitute for a vet. Sometimes I am a little over sensitive to my pups. Many times I have come here for advice to find I am over reacting just a tad. (Just being a Yorkie Momma ). However, when it is a ER situation we head to the vet. But I do love the support I get from everyone when my pups don't feel well.

| Its fine to come here for support, encouragement, advice AFTER THE FACT. When a dog needs to see an ER vet, you shouldn't even have time to stop and post on here. Geez, this past weekend my dogs injury wasn't half as serious as some of what I see posted and I didn't even take the time to change out of my pajamas before I went to the ER vet. In my opinion if you need someone to tell you your dog should see a vet after they have been hit by a car, you shouldn't own animals- plain and simple.
