| Having Pooping Trouble Not sure if this is where I should post this, since it isn't a puppy behavior problem. But my 16 week little girl (she weighs only 1 lb. 7 oz) is having trouble pooping about half of the time. She tries to go, but it gets caught in a ball and never falls out. I have to give her a "back-end bath" about every other day. The other day at the vets when he took her temperature, he said there was a bit of blood on the thermometer. Not sure what to do. Has anyone else had this problem? I assume it's because she is so little. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

| Is it possible that the poop is getting stuck in her butt fuzz? It does happen. Trim that area up a bit, if it's longer than 1/4" Also, make sure she's drinking enough water. Dry poops get stuck and they can scrape and cause a little blood. Adding a teaspoon of 100% pure pumpkin (canned, no spices) can help with both diarrhea and constipation. It balances the water content of the stool. Good luck and I hope your darling is feeling better soon!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think you need a specialist. We had another member with a similar problem and there was a serious problem with the intestines. I'm not sure what you mean by "gets caught in a ball and never falls out." Are you manually removing her poop? Have you explained all this to your vet? What are you feeding?

| Her poop does come out, but it forms into a ball. We've already trimmed her fur around that area because I thought that may have been the issue. I mentioned it to the vet and he said to keep an eye on it and call if it still persisted. I guess I'll give them a call. But figured it was worth asking here, too, since you all have yorkies, too. Thanks for the suggestions |
