| Is Capstar safe? For some reason the fleas have been really bad this year in my area. Louis has been on Frontline, but it is not working. I have also bathed him in Dawn dish soap. The vet recommended that I keep using the frontline once a month and also suggested that I use Capstar. Is this safe to use on him? Also, what kind of safe spray can I use in my yard. I never see the fleas in my house. I have only seen a few on Louis, but he is scratching like crazy. Please help! It is driving him crazy and his hair is a mess from the constant scratching!

| Capstar works great, but only to kill fleas that are already on him for about 24 hrs. It doesn't repel or kill fleas after that. Frontline didn't work for me either, but I really like Comfortis (pill) which is like Capstar, but works for a month or longer. I don't know about sprays for yard, but it does help inside if you vacuum daily, especially if you have carpet. Even if you don't see them, they are hiding there. The scratching could also be from dry skin or allergies. Make sure you rinse him very well after using Dawn, and use a conditioner with some soothing meds in it.

| Comfortis is great, but definitely DON'T continue to use Frontline with it. You could use Capstar occasionally with Frontline, but why would you even want to continue using Frontline if it isn't working? My vet says fleas can build up a resistance to Frontline so it doesn't work; and they hear that a lot.

| Lots of people have had success with Comfortis. It might be worth a try. But it is a new drug and the safety profile is not great, nor is the overall efficacy. No reason to continue FL if it isn't working, esp. if you are starting a new drug. Advantage is also possible. Program + Advantage or Program + Capstar aren't bad choices.

| I am using revolution from the vet on my little girl. It protects against fleas, ticks, and heart-worms. So far so good. |

| I called my vet again to discuss wether I should continue using Frontline. I found out that you are not suppose to bathe them 48 hours before AND 48 hours after using fronline. I have been giving him a bath before using so my vet said that is why it is not working. I wish they would have told me that sooner.

| yes my vet also said not to apply two day before or two days after a bath. Maybe you might want to try revolution. It seems to work pretty well. |

| We had a really bad infestation problem this year with fleas, I think it was from the drought. We used Adams yard spray and Adams foggers in the house... both worked awesome for us. We also use Comfortis, but needed the Adams for an extra boost this year.
