| Worried mom My lil guy Bentley is 10 months and has not barked! I'm extremely worried. Could it be because he is tiny? Porscha was tinier than him at 8wks and was constantly barking. I know all puppies are different but I would think by now I'd hear a bark from him. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

| Bentley is a little boy. My little girl Sassy didn't bark much until the last few months, she is 11 months, she sounds like a rooster now. she is 6 lbs and tries so hard to sound like a big dog. Have you asked your vet about him barking?

| I've had two vets tell me I'm overreacting and I should be thankful instead that I don't have a yappy dog! I want my baby to talk to me tho! I'm glad Sassy is barking! LOL about her sounding like a rooster! Porscha went through her weird barking transitions. She's super loud and screechy but its music to my ears! Though some of my neighbors are not too fond of it!

| Hi Monika, You're lucky to have a little one that doesn't bark much. I have one that barks non-stop, day and night. Sometimes I want to pull my hair out because she barks so much, but I love her so much I just grin and bear it. lol

| Your post reminds me so much of my golden retriever, Burney. When he was about a year old, I also took him to his vet because he had never barked. I was worried that something was wrong. His vet said "You feed him the best food, his teeth are in excellent condition, he lives better than most people I know...what does he have to bark about!!" I still remember that and it's been over twenty years. I'm sure your baby will be fine. Burney eventually did bark.

| My baby does this weird squeaky noise sound. We only laugh cause it sounds so funny. Although she is only 3 months old. We do know she knows how to bark but prefers her own weird way of communication. I think your Bentley will be barking at one time or another.

AGREE!!! I had a cat that could never really meow. He sounded like he was whispering. Never affected him overall, and it was actually kind of a cute, endearing thing about him. When Oz barks it's really high pitched and hurts my ears, so maybe you should be glad he is at least holding off on that!

| Callie didnt bark for an extremely long time after i got her she would cry like crazy at night in the kennel but never bark and we thought something was wrong with her too but there wasn't. It took her a long time to finally bark but she still does not do it often.

| Dudley didn't bark either at first. My breeder said she had never heard him bark. Well, let me tell ya!!! When he started, he hasn't stopped. He barks at everything that moves. He is 4lbs. of dynamite. He sits and looks up at us and barks and tells us just what he wants and what for us to do and how to do it. If we don't go to bed at 10:00 he barks until we do. Enjoy it while you can. lol!!!! |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | I dont think you have anything to worry about.. I have two that just drive me crazy barking at anything and everything. Than I have my two that rarely bark. They do bark at the mail man, the rabbits in the yard and when they are out side but when they are in the house is different. I rarely hear a peep out of them. I prefer the not barking....

| I have a 3 year old that doesn't bark. He was almost 2 when he started barking, and he still only does it on rare occasions. To be fair, I've only had him since his first birthday. He is a very quiet dog. I'm with your vet, be thankful your little one isn't a barker. When mine barks, I tell him he's a good boy. He wags his tail and is off to do mischievous things quietly.
