| ear flopped over My sweet girl is almost 4 mos. old. We have had her a month, and she is the apple of our eye. I love her so much! She has been ill, just getting over kennel cough. Her left ear had fallen down. I have heard when they have been on penicillin sometimes that happens. She has been off of it for a week. But her ear is still down. Should I tape it and how do I do it? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks |

| I don't know if the medicine caused this, sometimes when they are teething their ears will fall down, she is still young. Here is my 2 year old Calvin with his ear down.

| I have the same issue. My pup is 17 weeks old and just finished a round of antibiotics for kennel cough. He had both ears down when I got him, eventually put one of them up but it has flopped again. I never made the connection with the antibiotic so thanks for that. I taped it but he wouldn't stay still, it was murder getting the tape off and it came out kind of lopsided. Now I will just leave them alone and let them do what they do. I found some very good vids on YouTube for taping. Let me see if I can find one for you: Good luck! |

| I'm so glad you posted this Choppa is 4 months. I taped for 3 days and they stayed up a week. I had them tipped first though. Now the hair is back and his ears.only bend about a third the way down. Huge rabbit ears. Ha

| I have just been keeping the hair trimmed around the ears. It has been heck trying to tip them as both of my babies like to act like I am chopping a foot off or something when I try to work on their ears. When I first got them, Max looked like a jackel with his huge ears before I trimmed the excess hair. Abby's ears were both down and after I trimmed them they popped up. The ears sometimes fall when they are teething and loosing their teeth. One of my previous yorkies had one ear up and one ear down - just added to her little personality. The only thing I noticed, I had to clean the ear more - with the ear down she used to get some ear build up. It was gross the first time the vet cleaned her ear out, but after that it was not bad at all. She used to run up to me when I got the Q-Tip out to clean her ear. I started calling her thumper because one of her back legs would thump when I cleaned out her ear. As will people ears, you have to be careful not to stick the Q-Tip in to far. |

| Sophie's one ear went down for a few weeks when she was teething, but then stood back up on its one. Both her ears are up and no taping was needed. Plus, I think taping is a little extreme, especially if she's just a pet. Like someone else said, just adds to her personality |
