| how long does the 1st menstrual cycle last for a yorkie? Hi, My yorkie is 9 months old and got her 1st menstrual period about 5 weeks ago and still bleeding right now although now isn't as much as before. Is it normal? Should I be worried? When will the bleeding stop? Thank you Last edited by irenaxp; 07-27-2011 at 02:15 AM. |

| I would take her to the vet it should only last about 21 days.

| Please bring her in to be seen by your vet! I just went thru a smiliar situation with my Belle. She was in heat for three weeks, then started spotting on and off for almost 2 months. It seemed like she would stop, then would start up again. I brought her in to be seen by my vet this morning and he spayed her today. Five weeks of bleeding is NOT normal.

| Luckily Emma never went into heat and got spayed at a year old. However, I did have a rescue that went into heat before her spay appointment and I think it lasted 3 weeks...Maybe a little more, but definitely not more than 1 month.
