Brainstorm!! Yorkie Meet Up! Ok..when I work up this morning I had this vision of coordinating a Yorkie Lovers Meet Up. I live in NE Ohio and I know of several Yorkie Lovers on this board alone that live in Ohio too. I would love to get a gathering of some kind for all Yorkie Lovers to congregate. I have visions of Educational seminars, Puppy Mill Awareness, Rescue Organizations, to be held all to better educate Yorkie owners and potential Yorkie owners. Other visions I have are of contests, vendor booths, auctions of all kinds of items, the proceeds to be donated. Now this does seem far fetched I know, but I can totally see many of you interested in attending something like this. Then make it a national even where other coordinators in other states hold the same type of event on the same day, and then we can declare it 'National Yorkie Day' or something like that. I just posted this to see what feed back I get. Of course things will start off small, maybe the first year we just have a get together discuss more ideas and then each year make it a little bigger by adding something new. What are everyones thoughts on this? Can you see it? We used to have YorkieFest but that nolonger exists. Looking to bring that thought back to life. Hugs, Irene aka Rini, aka Wini

I have tried several times to get something like you suggest going but it always peters out. If you look at the polls I had polls for where to have it and when to have it but very few responses and most said they would only go if it was in their area and not many were willing to travel. I think it would be such great fun and am willing to help on the committee for my area if it ever gets off the gorund.

I'm just across the border in PA but I would love to have a get together in Ohio and possibly expand to include other activities. I've read things on the net about hiring different professionals for different training things or seminars. I think I read something else about a camp type thing that you can arrange to have different people come to speak or train or whathever else there is.

That's what I had in mind. Something fun but educational as well. Trainers that have experience with Yorkies, Yorkie Rescues, Vets that are experience with Toy breeds and Yorkies. Or we can really go over board and make it a Toy breed get together..after all the issues we have with Yorkies affect most Toy breeds. Might open more doors of opportunity..gonna start jotting down ideas and see what I can come up with . I would appreciate other suggestions as well.
