| Yorkie first heat Hi I'm new to this so bare with me. I have a female yorkie that just turned 1 an I'm thinking she may have already gone into heat. Is it possible she could have gone with out me knowing? I want to get her spayed but is it bad to do so after they have already had a heat cycle? |

| She has probably gone into heat by a year old. At 6 months a yorkie is sexually mature. Yes, she can be spayed. Yes it is possible not to know that she has gone into heat. They clean themselves and their vulva swells, so it can be easily missed.

| My Sassy went into heat at 7 months and I wasn't aware until it started. I had to wait a month after the heat was over to make sure all of the swelling was gone and before I had her spayed.

| Did she start marking? Allie has started marking and she's 6 1/2 months. It's bugging the crap out of me because she just started doing this a few days ago. She'll squat like she's peing and it's only a few drops-clear, I've been watching to make sure she's not exhibiting signs of a UTI, and when she goes on her pee pads, it's a lot of pee....but now I have to watch her like a hawk to keep her from doing it.
