YorkieTalk Newbie! | Need Harness Advice Please! My Mocha might be small but she has the strength of a medium sized dog!! - Which makes her mommy proud.. But whenever we go for walks, Mocha always pulls on the leash and starts making hacking noises.. and it worries me especially since Yorkies are prone to tracheal collapse.. I've tried Puppia Soft Harnesses, Dress Harnesses, and Step-in Harnesses - and I still get the same results.. I also looked at Buddy Belts but I feel that they are too pricey.. I feel that the only way to prevent Mocha from unintentionally hurting herself is to eliminate the possibility of pulling.. So that's how I found the Easy Walk Harness - where the leash attaches at the front of the harness.. Premier Easy Walk Harness Please check it out and let me know what you think.. If you've tried it or just simply have some advice for me.. Please Share!! I really want to solve this issue.. Thanks in advance!! |

| I just found your blog and responded there, but I'll paste here as well: I bought the Easy Walk Harness and tried it on my pulling Cooper. It seemed to work at first, but he was able to escape out of it on several occasions! He's 10 pounds and it fit very very snugly. I have no idea how he got loose, but I will never use this product again. There are other people on YT who have had the same experience. We use Buddy Belts and love them. Even though they are expensive, I have a feeling they will last forever. Also, we work on preventing pulling. The best way to train is that when your dog is pulling, turn around and just start walking in the other direction. Mocha will get the point soon enough.

| I just use a regular nylon step-in harness, its the only harness ive found that doesnt pull on his neck ! You can propably find them in your local petshop, find one that fits really well (take your dog with you in the store so you can see if it fits), some harnesses pull on the neck despites that they are not supposed too, dogs are different shaped, one harness may fit 1 yorkie perfect and not pull on the neck while on another yorkie it might pull much on the neck.

| We have this one for Ozzy... Petmate Nylon Dog Harness - Harnesses - Collars & Leashes - PetSmart It works well, he hasn't gotten out of it. We also got him another one that looked like it might be really comfy and cover him better but he has gotten out of it, even at the smallest fit settings. I can probably find out which one it is later tonight and post a link or pic. |

| This is what I bought for Lulu. I love it. It's easy to get on and doesn't come anywhere near her neck. Shoulder Collar Harness for Small Dogs from Golly Gear

| We use a Puppia Harness but have found that the "gentle leader" which is kind of like a "head collar" is the best way for us to eliminate the pulling. Our wonderful puppy kindergarten instructor suggested it to us. Just a very gentle pull on this is enough to work. We are still working on this issue also. Probably the most difficult of the training we have been working on with our 9 month old Jax. He seems very ingrained in the pulling habit. |

| I know a buddy belt is pricey but it really is worth it and will last forever.
