| HELP!!! Female ... uh...*blush* "humping" This is kind of an unusual question... but do female Yorkies 'hump' and why? My pippin has been humping this toy she has and now she is humping the cat! She is in heat and I thought by now she would be over it but it continues. Also, is there a way to keep your Yorkie from 'happy peeing' when you come home? I can't keep the house from smelling like urine because of this. HELP! |

| It's completely normal. I don't know how to stop the happy peeing....it's actually a sign that she/he is submitting to who ever makes them pee. I've got an article to read on it but havn't had the chance yet. I'll let you know what the outcome of the article is. I use lots of Febreeze and light a lot of candles. |

| Yes females hump also. You might wanna get her a stuffed animal her size to hump and maybe that would keep her form trying to do it to the cat. As far as the peeing I have read where people who have dogs that do that take them out or to their peepad before they aknowledge them when they come home.

| I don't know anything about being in heat since Hallie has been spayed but she will still hump Simon occasionally. My vet said it was a dominance issue. |

| The mounting (humping) issue may be just play, or a dominance issue. Mostly its just males that go through it but as you have seen first hand sometimes females. Nothing to be concerned over unless it continues. Then if it does I would seek my vets opinion. As far as the happy peeing, it might not be "happy" as you think. It might be submissive peeing, which means she is showing you she is submissive. I would try to ignore her when you first come home, go about business with out making a fuss over her. Does she roll over on her back when she does this?

| No she doesn't roll over... she just is all excited, has her ears back, is so skittery that I can barely catch her. I live in a bi-level house so as I come up the stairs she is on the living room floor as I am on the landing by the door. When I pick her up she is already damp. Also, on the humping issue, her little nipples kind of have a hardness under them now where they were just prominent before. I thought she would have been out of heat by now. I am so embarrassed! |
