| FIREWORKS & Yorkies!!!! Please Read!! Hi there everyone! This is just a reminder that with the holiday fast approaching, it is time to think about our furkids and their possible reactions to the booms, crackles, bangs, and bright lights. Every year MANY dogs go missing because they get scared and RUN from their yards or out of the backdoor during family parties and gatherings. Here are a few suggestions & reminders! Make sure that you have proper identification on your dog. If you are entertaining with people going in and out, it is best to keep your dog confined in a safe closed off room (once the fireworks start.. they might try to make an escape). If your dog is scared, try to keep some soft music on in the area that they are in ..... and you could try a thundershirt-something I have seen good reviews on. Don't assume that your dog won't be scared...... some dogs are "gun shy" just like people are afraid of spiders, snakes, etc..... better safe than sorry!! We usually watch the fireworks from our back yard, and the dogs are safely fenced AND on leashes at that time.... depending on Seegers reaction, will depend if they stay out with us this year (the other two haven't had issues). I won't keep him out if he is afraid.... it just wouldn't be fair to him. I HOPE THAT EVERYONE HAS A WONDERFUL, FUN, SAFE, AND UNEVENTFUL HOLIDAY!!!! Happy 4th!!! ....... Also, it would be great if you could give us more ideas or suggestions to keep your Yorkies (pets) safe this holiday!!!

| I am so dreading this night. My poor Willow is so scared of loud noises. She is in a panic when it thunder's and nothing I mean nothing has helped her. I may have to call Vet and get something for her.

| one thing people used to do when i worked in a pet lodge is find a kennel/lodge that's away from town so that they don't have to hear all the loud fireworks. they will be in safe concrete runs and can't escape and won't be able to hear the fireworks going off all night long and pop pop popping in their sensitive ears. so if you have big plans that don't really include the terrified poochie i suggest put them up for the weekend in a kennel where they will be happier and away from their biggest fears. |

| So far Ella isn't afraid of anything except her bell hanging by the door!! We have a family picnic all day and then fireworks at night so I hope she isn't scared. She really likes being out and about and being around people.

| Thanks for the reminder! Thankfully, mine are not afraid of the fireworks... They actually come with us to the river to watch the fireworks and they slept through them last year. I've heard great things about the Thundershirts. That would be the first thing I would do if mine showed any fear of loud sounds.

| Thanks for the reminder. There have actually been some pop pops in our neighborhood since last week. Kaji stops all play when he hears it. We have been to downtown Disney with the fireworks, (they have nightly fireworks) and he had no reaction. But that was 2 years ago. I don't know what to expect this year.

| We had fireworks on Sunday night. Lucy was in my bed with the overhead fan going and the air purifier running; she was fine. Ringo was going crazy! I put him in his crate with a new bully stick; and draped a blanket over his crate - except for the very front. He calmed down right away and seemed to appreciate his 'cave'.

| Although we live in town, there are neighbors that play with fireworks anyway (nevermind the fire ban). So I told my DH that I wasnt planning anything this year or leaving our property. My worst nightmare is to come home to a house fire. We have a volunteer fire dept. and it isnt very big. We will be able to see the big FtW fireworks from our backyard and the boom is more like a pop. |

| Jackson is terrified of fireworks! Absolutely despises them. Last year I made the mistake of having him sitting outside the restaurant with me when the fireworks show started in Gettysburg. Big mistake. He basically tried to crawl up my back, however far he could get. So I took him back to the hotel room, but the 'damage' had already been done. He laid under a chair for about an hour until 20 minutes after the show stopped. This year, I am going to be prepared and STAY in the hotel with him *before* the fireworks even start, I will probably turn everything up loud, LOL and hope for the best.

| Thanks for the reminder and tips...this will be Sparky's first so I will take every precaustion. I will probably keep him in his crate during the firework show with a kong or a bully stick and hope for the best.
