| Fearless Tera & hello! This is my first actual post on here. I'm trying to figure everything out. There are some very cute yorkies on this board! My baby's name is Tera (registered Kathy's Terabyte of Fun). This is my very first yorkie, so I have been reading a lot! I brought her home just over than 14 weeks of age. She is now almost 23 weeks. I can't believe she is going to be six months old soon! She is small, not even 3# yet (more like 2 3/4). Her breeder said she would probably be about 3 1/2# as an adult. Herein lies my problem. She is very small, but wants so much to play with other dogs. My sister has 2 yorkies, and we traveled to her house a couple of weeks ago. Tera was chasing them both around wanting to play. My sister's dogs finally warmed up to her on day 3 and they started playing with each other. I sure wish we lived closer! My son brought his westie over yesterday. The westie is about a year old, but has been re-homed now the third time. The westie (being a terrier) wants to chase small critters (which Tera happens to be). Tera wants so bad to play with Riley, but I think it is a death wish of sorts. Riley tends to be really rough. Yesterday we set up an x-pen in living room. They kept trying to get to each other, and even started running back and forth running and barking. My hope is that at some point Riley will understand that Tera is little, and she is a dog, not a critter to chase. Any ideas out there? I may try to post a video in a bit. Anyway, I am happy to join this community, and have decided to finally come out of "lurk" mode. Kathy |

| What a cutie, well.. My little one doesn't seem to know her size either, imagine that! In your position I'd just watch them and not intervene unless you feel they are getting vicious.. Watch the backs of their necks, is their fur standing on end? The dogs may just find it fun to run and bark, but if teeth are shown, and fur is ruffled then they may be trying to establish territory or dominance. Keep a close eye on them but try to let them figure it out.. sometimes tossing toys or things will help distract them from each other and give them a joint goal... Good luck!! |

| You just need to watch them until they get used to each other. My Hobbes is 16 lbs and he is rough with sister Sassy, she is 6 lbs all the time. I am more afraid of her hurting him. I also have 2 others and they all get to playing. No on has ever been hurt. Good Luck and welcome.

| Thank you both for your input. I'm hoping that they will start playing nicely together. Here is the video of them running and playing: http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/...a/f154f7a9.mp4 Kizzie - great suggestion about throwing toys! Susan - you have 4 yorkies! How fun! Thanks for sharing. Sassy sounds like she can sure take care of herself!
