| Reusable Pee Pads...Questions I just wondered if anyone hand washes the pads? Or how well they contain the smells? I'm thinking about buying a couple instead of disposable the next time around, but I only have coin laundry & it's just not realistic to pop them in the washer everyday. Could I just wash them in the tub really good? If I had a closed hamper & kept them in it until I had enough to machine wash would it make my apartment stink? Feel free to give your input & if you have a YT seller you'd recommend to get some from let me know. Thanks.

| I would not recommend what you were talking of. These pads get very heavy when wet, therefore a washing machine does best. With mine I also use heavy bleach to keep them bright white. Without the bleach I just don't feel they are clean enough. I have had to hand wash them kind of...while my washer was broken I took them out in the yard and hung them on a chair and used the garden hose to rinse them off. It worked beautifully and then I dried them, but there was a smell, not a bad smell, to them. Not a bad smell mind you, but strange to me because there was no bleach. Do you have a garden hose you can use? Without a dryer, you need to hang them up until they dry...

I just hate it because I can always smell pee in my bathroom (where her pads are). I don't know if everyone smells it or I just have it in my head that I do, but I hate it. She uses a holder now & I often clean the floor with a bleach spray then OUT! odor remover, so I thought I'd try something different if possible. Her dirty ones get tied in a bag & put by the front door so it can't be from that.

| Do they still have those small, portable washing machines? If so, they might do well with this so you don't have to try handwashing.

| I had a holder for disposable pads once. Hated it. Spills always seemed to get under it....I don't know for your apartment status, other than give her more than one pad for the smell, see if that helps..You could buy one of the handheld shower things and attach it to your bathtub nozzle and have a hose, kindof...that may work. Drying doesn't take long but the washables are really heavy when soaked. Can you sit a chair or something in the tub or shower to let it dry while you are at work?

@yorkietalkjilly- I don't think the portable ones would be efficient either. I pay every utility known to man so it'd be easier to use the coin machine. That is a good idea though, and if we ever moved that's something I will look into. @RustysMom- I think I will just try a different brand of disposable as the reusable one may not be worth the hassle. I could put a chair in there and use the balcony to throw one on in nice weather. I think I should start pressing going outside again to minimize the indoor use, too. Thanks for your input, ladies.

| I got 50 of the reusable ones for the price of shipping, plus my hubby is a nurse and he brought me home some of the pads they use at the hospital so Ihave a ton. I do not find I smell pee tho. I found a company that helps rescue organizations out like this and sends them for just shipping. If you want a few to try let me know I will send you some. Private message me

| I tried the reusable ones years ago and did not care for them. I ended up having to do laundry almost every day to keep them ready to use and prevent them from smelling. It is easier for me to use the disposable ones. I order my disposable pads from Amazon.com. They are 50 to a pack for 12.13 - I order a few packs at a time and get the free shipping. I have had pretty good success with the OUT! pads. They are also available at Wal-Mart for about 12.88 for a pack of 50. The last few packs I bought came with a free poop bag holder and roll of bags. After 3-4 pee marks I replace them. I think I should buy stock in the company - lol. |

| The disposable pads intended for dogs are expensive. I use Walmart's Assurance underpads for people and they are cheaper. I get a package of 18 pads 23" x 36" for $5.64. When a pad gets wet I put it in a diaper disposal bag and throw it away. There is never a smell from the bag and I've never noticed a smell from the pad when it's on the floor. My husband says I have a nose like a hunting dog and can smell things that he swears don't exist so I'd smell the pad if it had a pee odor.
