| So I decided to buy clippers and cut his hair MYSELF!! Oh my, I did not think it was that hard, I mean the clippers came with a dvd, and the lady made it seem sooooo easy. My yorkie looks like a hot mess. And we are going on a trip next week!! He does not have all his shots, so I could not take him to groomer. Is there anywhere I can take him to fix this mess I made? He just needs a few more shots and his rabies shot..... |

| I bought clippers also and it wasn't easy. Mine look ok but nothing like they would at the groomer. I saved $160.00 I usually take them to Petsmart but they will not groom until I had proof they had all their shots, my vet won't either an they had to have a Bordatello shot (kennel cough) every 6 months. Good Luck

| Good luck! You can do it! The hardest part is keeping them still. Once you teach them to do that (which is no easy task!) then it gets easier! Ooops.... I should have finished reading! Yikes! If you didn't cut him too short, can't you just even him out? Maybe you could find a mobile groomer who would be willing to come to your house? Last edited by tjdmom; 06-19-2011 at 10:28 AM. |

| So sorry it didn't work out. Post some pictures and maybesomeone can help direct you on how to straighten your grooming up some. Perhaps it just needs a little tweaking.

| I remember our first grooming years ago.. I just kept at it until I got it right.. although you think you messed up this time.. It is really ok, it will grow and you need to keep working on this.. I do not take my yorkies to the groomer very often, I do not like the fact they need to be there for almost a whole day and the rest of the time is in a cage.. Just do not want this for mine.. Also have read tooo many horror stories about groomers.. Not all groomers know how to do a yorkie .. and have seen them mess up.. I thought I messed up one time, went to the groomer and good gried he looked worse then what I did.. Hope this helps.. |

| ITS OOOOKKKK!!! You can fix it. Electric shears take time to learn to use. To clean it up a bit try this. First run the puppy until they need a nap. You may need a helper. Put baby in your lap and pet until he/she goes to sleep. Run your fingers through the body hair while baby is laying on its side. Take small scissors (I use ginger embroidery scissors) where the hair is alot longer than the rest, just snip it off. You can do this to the legs as well. Repeat process if baby is still asleep,if baby wakes up and is not cooperating. Wait until later in the day and repeat process. You may not want to always trim your baby this way,but when dealing with a little puppy it is the easiest way to fix a groom problem. |

| [QUOTE=mypreciouspups;3571728]Yes I certainly agree. I would rather spend my money on my babies in many other ways then pay some one and be upset. Yup I dye my own hair lots also.. haha I like spending money on each of our babies, sometimes it just ends up with the vet. I groom our 2 poodles,1 yorkie,do the other dogs nails, dye and cut my own hair too. I haven't even figured up how much that would be every 6 weeks. But I can definately spend it some other way. |

Paris: Always in my ♥ Donating YT Member | I cut Paris's hair all the time. I just use hair scissors. It takes practice and thankfully hair grows back so you can try again! www.paristheblindwonderdog.blogspot.com |

| How bad could it really be? You are not showing the baby right?? I cut all 4 of mine. In the summer I just shave them down. The face I just put my hand around their snoot, pinky by the eyes, then i just take a scissor and trim in a circle around my thumb and forefinger. I snip up each side of their ears. I do their feet with a scissor being careful not to cut the little webbing between the toes. And that's it. They love to be cooler in the summer. After that I just trim their feet and snoot and eyes for the rest of the year. It really isn't that bad and I save a ton of money. No matter what you do to them they are still adorable and could never look bad!!

| Im sorry it didnt work this time but everyone is right keep trying. I clip Charlie myself with clippers BUT I take him to have his face and feet trimmed his feet are so small and I dont know how to get between toes and on the bottom of hisfeet, he always looks like he is wearing grinch shoes until Petco can trim his feet LOL and his face, it just scares me to be that close to his eyes and ears. I accidentally nicked an ear the first time and he didnt say a word but it bled and I felt so bad I cried. Now when I clip his body I shave him, he is always kept short, but he is very good during the clip he lays down and just lets you go to town
