Love wasn't a pet lover what so ever!

Before my yorkie Brooklyn came home I didn't get the whole thing about why people love their dogs so much. The whole reason for me getting him IS because my 9 year old begged me for a dog or a sister for a very long time. I would tell her no we don't need any pets because she is already my pet. LOL but the real reason was I knew it was huge responsibility. And to be honest I didn't even think I would get attached to the dog at all. Finally my daughter broke me down. And promised me how much she was gonna care for the pup. So...... I was not having another kid. Not just yet anyways. I thought of it as my daughter would learn some responsibilities and that's good for her in the long run. Well I was taking by surprise my yorkie stole my heart. I love him so ....he feels like my other kid. It turns out now he is basically my dog and my daughter helps when she feels like it. She just reminds me of elmira from tiny toons LOL! he runs to me when she gets on his nerves.... andShe get jealous of him and I because he is closer to me than her.
Thanx for reading just wanted share my story

What a lovely story as well thanks for sharing it.

This is one of the happy ending stories but so often I hear of little puppies being purchased for children then end up neglected.

So glad to see your heart has been stolen and the love will grow and grow I promise you.

I have been a dog lover all of my 70 years can't remember ever being without one and yes, each one stole my heart and I loved it.

I used to think people who were so ga-ga over their dogs or cats were nuts. I really did. I used to roll my eyes when one of my friends would talk about their pet as if it were a person.

I never imagined that I would fall in love with my little Roxie the way I have. Never thought I would talk about her all the time, take more pictures of her than most people do of their children, or even send out holiday cards with her picture on it!

My entire outlook on dogs, and pets in general, has changed dramatically over the last 18 months. Now I know that pets can be family.

Yorkies truly have a way of winning over hearts.

I've always loved animals so it's no surprise that I loved yorkies. My grandpa however was very anti-dog. For example, he believed if you ever had a dog it should always be kept outside. He was never into petting our dogs either. Then we got the yorkies. Would you believe he will now call them over to his lap so he can pet them?! And of course plays with them now as well. We were all amazed.

The same thing just happened this weekend as well. My great uncle is just like my grandpa, even worse as he seem repulsed by dogs. He came over for a visit and before long he was baby talking to them and playing with them!! Everyone really just stared in amazement, it was truly shocking!!

So as you can see Yorkies possess some magical powers that win over even the toughest anti-dog people, lol.

That's me!

I should probably duck for flying objects saying this on this site...but
I'm really not a dog lover...

I'm just a Yorkie lover!

All I can say is...I never knew how much love and happiness a dog can bring...I was more of neutral about dogs...when I was little, I always wanted one. I still say, getting Carmel was one of the best decision ever!

What a nice story. I feel badly for those who will never allow themselves to experience the reciprocated unconditional love of a pet. It is such a wonderful, amazing, loving experience.

I have always liked animals. I have been 'in love' with Yorkies since my first one in 1973. I know they have taught me so much. I don't know who said it ,but I believe this, 'I strive to be the wonderful person, my dog thinks I am.'

I have always been dog/animal lover, and grew up with pets. Same for my husband, but up until a couple years ago, he always put his foot down when it came to dogs in the house. We had two cats in our house since we built in '02, but it wasn't until our SIL got a yorkie, that DH even considered getting a little dog. Now, he is so completely besotted with love for our two boys, we can't stay away from them for more than a couple hours without pining for them! Yes, that is what this breed does to a person!
